The President is an important part of the Indian government body. The Vice-President and the Council of ministers play an important role for the Indian government.

The Union executive of the Indian government body is often considered as the most significant part that manages overall management of a region. Union executive is found to consist of some important inclusiveness. One of these inclusive can be mentioned as the president. Council of Ministers, and Attorney-General are the other two most important parts that are included within the Union Executive system. In terms of providing significant and essential advice to the president at certain times, the prime minister is considered to be head of aid.     

Role of President

The significance of the president in the Indian government can be understood by identifying and evaluating effective roles of the president.

  • The most important role, played by the president of India is as the supreme commander of the Indian Armed Forces. 
  • One of the other most important roles of the president is to preserve and defend the Indian constitution. 
  • According to Article 60 of the Indian constitution, protecting laws and utilizing the law at required paces is an important role of the president.

Role of vice-president

Besides the president, the vice-president is also considered as another important part of the Union executive.

  • As the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the vice-president is found to handle all activities of the Rajya Sabha.

  • As a presiding officer, the vice-president has the right and sole power to break any kind of tie vote.  

Election criteria of president and vice-president

Based on article 58, the requirements and eligibility to become a president of India can be identified. As per this article, there are three main requirements for becoming a president.

  • The person surely needs to be a citizen of India.
  • The age of the person needs to be a minimum of 35 years.
  • No holds of profit or office by the person need to be ensured. 

According to articles 63-73, the required qualifications, selection procedure, election, and the removal process of a vice-president can be analyzed. As per this article, eligibility of a vice president is same as that of the president.     

Functions of the attorney general and council of ministers

A compact understanding of the roles of the Council of Ministers, and Attorney-General can be considered as important to acquire detailed knowledge about Indian governmental bodies and the constitution. In this regard, functions of both of these can be identified. 

Council of Ministers

  • Preparing and monitoring the legislative agenda of the constitution in an efficient manner can be considered an important function of the council of ministers.
  • Funds regarding operations are found to be handled by these ministers.
  • Controlling fiscal operations and managing sustainable financial management is an important function, played by a council of ministers.
  • Controlling administrative activities and maintaining a sustainable and well-performing administration process is another important function. 

Attorney-General

  • The most important role of the attorney general is to advise the Indian government in required times.
  • Legal considerations are found to be handled by this governmental body. 
  • Several legal duties, assigned by the president, are performed efficiently by attorney generals.
  • As the head of the Justice Department, the attorney generals play a significant role in maintaining proper justice for everyone.

The President of India is considered to be the first citizen of India. One of the most important parts of the Union executive is president and vice-president. In terms of maintaining a growing and developing country, the president plays an important role. Important functions of the council of ministers and attorney-general are important for the successful legislative operations of a country.
