Introduction

The basic law of the United States can be understood through the Constitution of the U.S.A. To understand the organs of the Government, to learn about the authority and the fundamental right belonging to the country’s citizens one can seek help from the Constitution. Now, coming to the one which can be helpful for setting the Constitution’s stage, the Preamble. The Preamble can be described as a way for introducing the land’s greatest law, however, it should be noted that it is not the law.

United States – Constitution

Some notable features that help us learn more about the United States Constitution can include the following points:

  • The Constitution is in written form.
  • The Constitution can be called rigid since for making any amendment a specific process needs to be followed.
  • The Constitution helps in recognizing that the source of power comes from people.
  • Up until now, there have been twenty-seven amendments that the Constitution has seen, the recent one being in the year 1992.
  • It may also be noted that the Constitution acts as a great way to learn about the working process of the Government.

It was in the year 1787 when the Constitution of the United States was written. Later, in the year 1788, it was approved and came into operation in the year 1789. ”We the People” are the initial three words of this Constitution affirming the citizens that the Government of the country shall be there for the citizens. One can say that the Constitution of the United States acts as a way for learning about the working process of the Government. The three branches’ organisation can also be briefly understood.  Apart from this, the Constitution also helps in learning about the division of powers between the states and the federal government. Lastly, it plays a significant role in protecting the rights of the citizens of the country.

The Preamble

As observed from the above section, the Preamble of the Constitution can be understood as the introduction for the greatest law of the land. Thus, it acts as an introduction to the Constitution as a whole. One may imagine it as being sort of a short summary for the detailed Constitution which allows one to learn about what they can expect from reading the whole Constitution. The Preamble can help in learning about the goal, purpose and aim of the Constitution.  It helps in understanding the whole document’s intentions. Again, one can keep in mind that the Preamble itself is not any legal document or law, however, it plays a crucial role in learning what one can expect from the whole Constitution. The Preamble can be thought of as a way of reminding oneself for the purpose of writing the Constitution in the first place. It was in the year 1787 when the Preamble was written at the Constitutional Convention. The very significant three words ‘We The People’ help in learning that the Constitution is stemming not from the states but rather from the citizens. Thus, giving a tone for the whole Constitution and therefore the United States’ laws.

Conclusion

As observed from the above sections, it can be clearly understood that both the Constitution and the Preamble play a unique yet significant role for the country. The Constitution as well as the Preamble of the United States was written in the year 1787. It was in the year 1788 when the Constitution of the United States got sanctioned and in the year 1789 when it got into operations. The purpose, goal and aim of both the Constitution as well as the Preamble of the Constitution have been discussed in a comprehensive and detailed manner above. Thus, it can be concluded that the above sections help in learning about both the Constitution and the Preamble of the United States in a comprehensive manner.
