Constitution of the US and Preamble

It was in the year 1787 when the Constitution of the United States was written. Later, in the year 1788, it was approved and came into operation in the year 1789. ”We the People” are the initial three words of this Constitution affirming the citizens that the Government of the country shall be there for the citizens. One can say that the Constitution of the United States acts as a way for learning about the working process of the Government. The three branches’ organisation can also be briefly understood.  Apart from this, the Constitution also helps in learning about the division of powers between the states and the federal government. Lastly, it plays a significant role in protecting the rights of the citizens of the country. 

The Preamble

As observed from the above section, the Preamble of the Constitution can be understood as the introduction for the greatest law of the land. Thus, it acts as an introduction to the Constitution as a whole. One may imagine it as being sort of a short summary for the detailed Constitution which allows one to learn about what they can expect from reading the whole Constitution. The Preamble can help in learning about the goal, purpose and aim of the Constitution.  It helps in understanding the whole document’s intentions. Again, one can keep in mind that the Preamble itself is not any legal document or law, however, it plays a crucial role in learning what one can expect from the whole Constitution. The Preamble can be thought of as a way of reminding oneself for the purpose of writing the Constitution in the first place. It was in the year 1787 when the Preamble was written at the Constitutional Convention. The very significant three words ‘We The People’ help in learning that the Constitution is stemming not from the states but rather from the citizens. Thus, giving a tone for the whole Constitution and therefore the United States’ laws.
