Seaports are an important part of any country as they facilitate its economy. It is done by trading through ships. There are 15 operational ports among the seaports of Andhra Pradesh. One is a major (operational) and 14 minor (operational) ports in Andhra Pradesh. The Machilipatnam post is in the Krishna District. It is an anchorage port with a depth of ten metres. The port is currently not operating because of siltation. Another reason for the port not being under operation is the absence of a berthing facility.
Vadarevu
This port is located in the Prakasam district. Moreover, it is a greenfield port. Also, this port is specialised by the government in the shipbreaking industry. This port is under the consideration of being developed on a BOOT basis.
Krishnapatnam
Krishnapatnam port is located in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the largest private seaports in Andhra Pradesh.
Bhavanapadu
It is present in the district of Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh. It is a greenfield port. Also, there is a fishing harbour constructed in this port. This port is also under consideration to be developed by the government of India on a BOOT basis.
Kalingapatnam
The seaport of Andhra Pradesh is also located in the district of Srikakulam. Fishing operations can be carried out at this port with Catamarans and Navas.
Bheemunipatnam
The seaport of Andhra Pradesh named Bheemunipatnam is located in the district of Visakhapatnam. This seaport is also a greenfield port. The government wants to develop it on a BOOT basis. This development is to build it into a Ship Building Facility and a captive jetty.
Gangavaram
This port is also present in the Visakhapatnam district. It is also a deepwater port.
Mutyalammapalem
The seaport of Andhra Pradesh named Muthyalamma Palem is also situated in Andhra Pradesh. This is also a greenfield port that is under the consideration of development by the government of India on a BOOT basis.
Rawa ( Surasenyanam)
The port of Rawa is located in the East Godavari District. It was announced as a minor port of Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, the Rawa seaport of Andhra Pradesh is an anchorage port.
Narsapur
The seaport of Narsapur is located in the West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. At present, no handling of cargo takes place at this port. However, this is a greenfield port and is under consideration to be developed on a BOOT basis. In addition, this seaport is under consideration to be transformed into a fishing harbour.
Nizampatnam
The seaport of Andhra Pradesh called Nizampatnam is located in the Guntur district. It is a Greenfield port. Also, it has an o[perational fishing harbour.

Visakhapatnam Port
Visakhapatnam Port is one of the largest ports in Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, it is the only major seaport in Andhra Pradesh. Visakhapatnam Port is the third-largest state-owned port in India. It is largely from the perspective of cargo volume. It is the biggest port on the country’s eastern coast. This port is present between the ports of Chennai and Kolkata on the Bay of Bengal.
Visakhapatnam Port was undergoing a $13,000 crore expansion project by 2016-17 to double its capacity to 130 million tonnes. Taking a few simple measures will unlock a massive commercial door.
The major seashore business takes place in the Visakhapatnam port only. An average of twelve lakh tonnes of cargo is handled by this port every year. This port makes the most contribution to the country’s economy among the seaports of Andhra Pradesh.
