Wimbledon Championship 2021

From Monday, June 28 through Sunday, July 11, the 2021 Championships was conducted. It was the 134th Championships taking place in the year 2021. The total prize pool for the tournament was £35,016,000. The prize money for the sole winner was £1,700,000 (roughly $2.4 million).

The event was conducted before a baseline of 50% occupancy crowds throughout the stadiums till the singles Wimbledon final. The singles finals were supposed to be played before a whole house of 15,000 on Centre Court.

Automated line calling was placed in all courts, including Courts 4-11, which were implemented last year. A serve clock was implemented for both the main draw and qualifiers.

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic beat Italy’s Matteo Berrettini to win the Men’s singles championship. It was his 20th grand slam victory and sixth victorious title. With this victory, he has tied Roger Federer of Switzerland and Rafael Nadal of Spain for the most significant slams won by a player. After Rod Laver (1969) from Australia, He is the first player to capture the first three major grand slams. The three grand slams include the French and Australian Opens and Wimbledon Championship.

Women’s Singles

The women’ singles competition began in 1884. Since the inaugural event, the regulations for women’ singles have changed multiple times. Meanwhile, here is the name of the woman who won the solo title in 2021.

In the women’s singles final, Ashleigh Barty of Australia beat Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic. It was her first time winning. After Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1980, she became the first Australian woman to win this event. After winning the French Open in 2019, it was her second victory in a grand slam.

Men’s Doubles

Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic of Croatia beat Spain’s Marcel Granollers and Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos. This duo won the Doubles Championship and was the winner in the Wimbledon results 2021. Also, they gained the title of the first duo of Croatia to get the victory in Men’s doubles of Grand Slam. 

Women’s Doubles

Hsieh Su-Wei from Chinese Taipei and Elise Mertens of Belgium won the women’s doubles title in the tournament. This women’s pair defeated the Russian pair of Elena Vesnina and Veronika Kudermetova and got the  title. 

Mixed Doubles

The Wimbledon winners of 2021 were Neal Skupski of the United Kingdom and Desirae Krawczyk of the United States. They won the title of the tournament against Harriet Dart of the United Kingdom and Joe Salisbury of the United Kingdom.

Boys Singles

The boy’s singles winning the title was accomplished by an Indian origin boy named Samir Banerjee representing the United States. He achieved the tournament boy’s solo by beating Victor Lilov of the United States. Samir also accomplished the first Junior Champion of America to win the Wimbledon championship after Reilly Opelka (2015).
