Need for Bullet Trains in India

This article examines the need for bullet trains in India, and takes a look at the Tejas Express and Vande Bharata trains that are currently operational in India.

Bullet trains are high-speed passenger trains that cover large distances in a short amount of time. They are a necessity in metropolitan cities, which are crowded with working people who need to travel long distances in limited time to reach their work locations and return home. However, they might be a little expensive compared to the rising costs of goods and services in present times. Bullet trains are currently needed by the people, and must be launched soon in order to save the passengers’ time. Bullet trains will prove to be a boon for people living in metropolitan areas.

What makes bullet trains a necessity in India?

  • The bullet trains in India will help in decongesting the roads. The high population of India has made the roads really congested. Having a bullet train would shift some of the congestion from the roads to the bullet trains.
  • The fast speed travelling provided by the bullet trains would help in the business conducting and commercialised cities of India.
  • The towns and cities would get connected in a better and a faster way. This interconnection will also help in reducing the migration, while allowing the people to travel easily.
  • Bullet trains also ensure the safety of the passengers. No bullet trains in Japan have ever met with an accident. Thus, we can be certain that their way of working and construction is such that it does not meet with accidents.
  • The construction of factories and industries has added to the pollution in most of the metropolitan cities and commercialised areas. High-scale deforestation is also practised for construction purposes. The bullet trains are eco-friendly and do not emit greenhouse gases like CO2. They do not add to the deteriorating pollution conditions in India, and thus, can be very helpful in tackling the rising problem of environmental pollution in India.

The Alternatives India has Launched

Although India does not have bullet trains, it has launched some fast-moving trains which travel faster than average trains. These fast-moving trains have particular predetermined destinations between which they run. Here are some of them:

Tejas Express

This is a semi-high running and fully air-conditioned train, which is known for its comfort and speed. It runs faster than the other AC trains in India. It has an operating speed of 130 kilometres per hour.

The Tejas Express is a fast-moving train that offers facilities such as on-board catering, which provides good-quality food. It is one of the four high-speed trains in India. The ticket price of Tejas Express is higher than the other regular trains because of the features it offers. It is also very comfortable and is suitable for people of all ages.

Looking more closely at the comfort it offers, senior citizens can use it to travel with ease. The staff service is highly trained and efficient, and the train stays clean.

Vande Bharath Train

Vande Bharath Train is also among the fastest trains in India, and offers a speedy journey to passengers. It was launched on 15 February, 2019, and has been serviceable since then. It has a premium class and an executive class. Passengers can choose either of the two according to their ease and preference.

It operates at a speed of 180 kilometres per hour, which is fast compared to other trains. Shatabdi Express is the predecessor of the Vande Bharath Express.

It has an aerodynamic design, which gives the train a stunning look. It is a highly popular train among the masses and is used by passengers for the distance it covers in a short amount of time.

What do the Tejas Express and Vande Bharath Train offer?

Both the Tejas Express and the Vande Bharath Express trains are fast running and offer quick travel times between the two destinations they run between. Passengers who do not have much time to commute are greatly assisted by the speed and comfort offered by these trains. Many classes are available on both trains for people to choose from. The disabled also have a separate compartment and are provided with care. The on-board catering services offered by these trains are excellent, as are the other features that are available.

Conclusion

Bullet trains are fast-moving trains that help passengers save time and allow people to cover large distances in a shorter time frame. Although India does not have bullet trains yet, it would greatly benefit from them, owing to its large and growing population that requires them to travel fast.

An alternative to bullet trains in India includes the fast-moving Tejas Express and Vande Bharath Train. These trains help people travel between destinations in less time and covers many destinations.
