List of Chief Ministers of the Different States of India in 2019

The chief minister is the appointed head of the state government. Their sway over the state is comparable to that of the prime minister on a national scale. Article 154 of the Indian Constitution grants certain executive powers to the governor, who thereafter appoints the chief minister of a state.

The eligibility criteria for chief ministers

To be qualified for the office of the chief minister of a state, an individual must satisfy a series of requirements mandated by the Constitution. The candidate must be an Indian citizen of at least 25 years old. They should also be elected to the state’s legislature. However, there is an exception to this rule. An individual may be considered for the post of chief minister if they manage to secure a seat in the state legislative assembly within six months of their appointment. Failure to do so will lead to being removed from the position.
