Incredible India, the world’s largest democracy, is home to one of the world’s oldest civilisations dating back around 4,500 years. India has a population of 1.4 billion people who speak over 1600 languages. Over the years, it has witnessed the birth and growth of various cultures and religions. India has a multicultural society that celebrates festivals of many faiths and religions. Being a large and diverse country, it also has a wide range of delicacies and food preparations. There are various unique forms of entertainment and art in India as well.
‘Atithi Devo Bhava’, which means our guests are equivalent to Gods, embodies the spirit of Indian tradition and culture. It truly portrays India’s rich cultural heritage and the people’s warm welcome. The mighty Ganges, Indus, and Brahmaputra are among the several rivers flowing through the country. The nation’s core is its diversity, making it an Incredible India.
Geographically located in South Asia, India is the seventh-largest country in terms of land area. India is a democratic country where people have the right to elect their leaders.
The Slogan “Incredible India”
The slogan “Incredible India” was proclaimed by Sunil Dutt in 1972. It was a campaign launched by the country’s government to promote international tourism in the country. The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, is the new brand ambassador of the campaign. Rajasthan is regarded as the Incredible state of the country as it is famous for its historical monuments, traditions, architecture, and many more things. The importance of the Incredible India campaign is to promote Indian tourism and showcase that the beauty of the country lies in its culture, traditions, architecture, and historical monuments.
Incredible India Tourism
The Incredible India Tourism includes major attractions of the country like-
- The Forts – Amber fort, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaisalmer Fort, Red Fort, Chittorgarh Fort, Agra Fort, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Junagarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Ranthambore Fort, are some prominent forts in the country. Most of the forts have a history behind their formation, which attracts many tourists.
- The Monuments – Taj Mahal (it is one of the seven wonders), Qutub Minar, Charminar, Konark Sun Temple, Gateway of India Mumbai, Ajanta Caves, Iron pillar, and many more such monuments are renowned worldwide for their historical significance.
- Famous places in India – Rajasthan, Agra, Goa, Darjeeling, Rishikesh, Kolkata and Mumbai top the list of tourist destinations in India visited by thousands of tourists to experience India’s beauty and culture.
- Wildlife Sanctuaries – Some of the famous wildlife sanctuaries that attract tourists are Jim Corbett National Park, Manas National Park, Kaziranga National Park, Ranthambore National Park, Kanha National Park, and Great Himalayan National Park, and many more.

Regional Division of India
The Northern region is home to the Himalayas, the tallest mountain range in the world. This region also includes Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and several other states. It has one of the world’s famous monuments, the Taj Mahal, and other famous forts that attract visitors worldwide.
The Southern region is famous for its festivals, cuisines, and languages. This area includes states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The Southern part of the country is famous for its temples around the world, like the Balaji temple in Tirupati. The states in the southern region have thick, dense forests, a habitat for a wide variety of animals and birds.
States of Eastern India are West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha. The seven states of northeastern India are famously known as the Seven Sisters – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura. Sikkim has recently been added to this group. Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, is the third-largest city in the country. Sugary treats and festivals are a big part of Kolkata’s culture.
The nation’s West is breathtaking, covered with dunes of deserts, and vast forest lands. The three most magnificent destinations in this area are Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. This region’s culture, language, customs, and clothing are extraordinary. Mumbai – the country’s financial capital – lies along the coastal area of Maharashtra.
