Government of Telangana

Telangana is the Southern state of India; its Capital is Hyderabad. The government of Telangana is also regarded as the State Government of Telangana. The government was formed in June 2014.

Telangana is a state of India in the South region, and its Capital is the Land of Nawabs: Hyderabad. The government of Telangana was formed in June 2014, and it consists of an executive, a judiciary, and a legislature. Elections for the state are held once every 5 years for the Parliament, State assembly, and regional panchayats. The name of the state was derived from Trilinga Desa, which means land of three Lingas as there are 3 Shiva Lingas present in the state. The state has its own Ganges known as the Dakshin Ganga. The famous Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad is heart-shaped. The Famous Charminar Mosque is situated in Telangana. It is also regarded as the land of Nawabs.

Government of Telangana

The head of the government is the Chief Minister, the Constitutional head is the Governor of the State, and the head of the Judiciary is the Chief Justice of the High court.

  • Governor- The Governor of a State is equivalent to the President of a Country. The Governor of any state is appointed and elected by the president of the country for a time of 5 years. The Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers are appointed and selected by the Governor of the State. The First Governor of Telangana was Ekkadu Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan, and then Tamilisai Soundararajan was declared the Governor of the State. Tamilisai Soundararajan is currently serving his term as the Governor.
  • Legislature- Legislative Assembly and the Governor together make the legislature, and it is regarded as the highest political body. The members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected, and currently, approximately 119 members are a part of the Legislative Assembly of Telangana.
  • Judiciary- High court in the state is the Telangana High Court.
  • Executive Branch- The Executive branch consists of the Governor, the Chief Minister, and the Council of Ministers. 
  • Chief Minister- The Chief Minister plays an important role in the executive duties of the state. The governor of the state appoints the party leader of the Legislative Assembly as the Chief Minister. The party receiving more than 50% of the votes gets the chance to decide the Chief Minister.
  • Council of Ministers- They are answerable to the Legislative Assembly. The winning party and the Chief Minister together forward the list of eligible candidates to the Governor of the State. The Governor then approves the Council of Ministers from that list.

Current Government Officials as on 2022 

Since its inception, Telangana has been run by Mr. K Chandrashekar Rao, who is the founding member of Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which spearheaded the move for the statehood of Telangana as we know it today. He was elected as the Chief Minister for the 1st time in 2014 and was re-elected for a 2nd time in 2018.

Cabinet Ministers

Cabinet Ministers are a body of high-ranking government officials selected by the Chief Minister to be part of his Cabinet Ministry. Generally, Cabinet Ministers belong to the same party to which the Chief Minister belongs. They are responsible for the day-to-day management of the government and assist the Chief Minister in decision-making.

  • Vemula Prashanth Reddy is the Minister of Roads and Buildings, Legislative Affairs, and Housing Developments.
  • Malla Reddy is the Minister of Labour and Employment in the Factories 
  • Guntakandia Jagadish Reddy – Minister of Energy
  • K. T. Rama Rao – MA & UD, Industries, IT & C
