Government of Kerala

The Kerala government is the state government of the Indian state named Kerala, where the chief minister of Kerala leads the government and chooses all the ministers in the cabinet.

Kerala is the small southwestern coastal state of India. Moreover, it constitutes only 1 percent of the country. It has about 38,863 kilometres square area of land. It has Karnataka as a border in the north direction and Tamil Nadu in the east direction. Kerala also surrounds Mahe, which is a part of the Pondicherry state. The Government of Kerala is the government of the Indian state called Kerala in the south. The chief minister of Kerala belongs to the supreme decision-making board, including the other topmost leaders of the state cabinet. When an election is completed, the governor completes the process of selecting the chief minister who will be leading the other members of the state cabinet of the ruling party. The chief minister of Kerala was also selected with the same process. In India, according to the Indian constitution, the executive authority lies with the governor. Moreover, this authority can be exercised only by the chief minister and the cabinet or on their advice at the same time. Furthermore, in most cases, the cabinet ministers exercise their authority directly as the leaders of various departments of the government. At the same time, some cabinet positions have a greater or smaller degree as well.

The Governor

Presently, Arif Mohammad Khan is the governor of Kerala state. Moreover, the governor is elected by the president every five years after the state elections. The legislative and executive powers and authorities lie with the chief minister of Kerala and the minister’s council of ministers. These are appointed by the governors. The functions, authorities, as well as powers of the governors of all the states and territories in India are similar and equal to that of the president of India at the national level.   • In Kerala, the main economic activity of the state is agriculture. The main crops that provide huge business to the state are; coffee, tea, rubber, etc. Moreover, a bit less than half of the overall land area of the Kerala state is being utilised for agricultural purposes. Furthermore, some major food crops are also grown in the state, and these are; pulses, rice, peas, tapioca, sorghum, beans, etc. Commercial poultry farming is also properly developed in the state at the same time.
  • The forests of the state also have valuable timbers like rosewood, teak, etc. Moreover, Kerala also supplies industrial raw materials such as bamboo, charcoal, resins, gums, etc.
  • Notably, the state is also a national-level leading fish supplier. Fishes like tuna, sardines, prawns, etc., are being exported in huge amounts from the state.
