European euro (EUR)

Although most of the countries on the European continent accept the European euro, there are few other countries that accept their own currencies such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Russia etc.

The European Union

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union made up of 27 countries in Europe. Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden are all members of the European Union.

EU policies strive to secure the free movement of goods, money, people and services inside the internal market, pass justice and home affairs laws, and preserve common trade, agricultural, fishing, and regional development policies. For travel within the EuroZone, passport restrictions have been eliminated. The euro is the official currency of 19 of the European Union’s 27 member states.

Let’s look at some prominent countries in Europe:

The United Kingdom

“United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” is the official name of the United Kingdom. It was formerly an EU member nation until it formally left the EU following Brexit. It has a single government that has its headquarters in London, as well as a single currency: the pound Sterling, which is represented by the ‘£’ symbol. Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state of the United Kingdom, which is a constitutional monarchy. London is the United Kingdom’s capital.

Greece

Greece is a country that is situated in the southeast part of Europe. It has hundreds of islands scattered over the Ionian and  Aegean oceans. Greece is regarded as the origin of Western literature, Western philosophy, and Western civilisation. It is also referred to as the father of democracy, historiography, political science, and a few of the important scientific and mathematical ideas, theatre, and the Olympic Games. The nation has a population of around 10.7 million people and is divided into nine traditional geographic areas. The capital and largest city of Greece is Athens, which is followed by Thessaloniki. Greece’s official currency is the Euro, and the country is a member of the European Union.

Italy

Italy has traditionally been home to a diverse range of peoples and civilizations due to its pivotal geographic location in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean. The country’s capital is Rome, and the Euro is the country’s official currency. The nation has a population of roughly 60.5 million people and is a member of the European Union. Rome, the country’s capital, is famed for its history and culture, as seen by its architecture, gastronomy, and museums. Some constructions are almost 2,000 years old, such as the Colosseum. The Vatican City, which is also a cultural hub, is located within the city of Rome.

Norway

Norway is a Scandinavian nation with mountains, glaciers, and deep fjords along its coast. The capital, Oslo, is a city of parks and museums. The Viking Ship Museum in Oslo has preserved 9th-century Viking ships on exhibit. The country’s population is estimated to be over 5 million people while the Norwegian krone, abbreviated as NOK, is the country’s official currency.

Russia

Moscow, Russia’s gorgeous capital city on the Moskva River in Western Russia, is the country’s most well-known metropolis. Russia is a transcontinental country spanning eastern Europe and northern Asia. It is, nonetheless, classified as part of the European continent by the United Nations. The Russian Ruble is the country’s official currency.

Conclusion

Europe is one of the 7 continents on the planet, it is located in the Northern Hemisphere and partly in the eastern hemisphere. The widely accepted currency on the continent is the European euro, which is accepted by the countries that are in the European Union.
