Who is Balamani Amma?

Answer: Balamani Amma was a famous Indian poet. She is also known as the grandmother of Malayalam Literature. She was the recipient of many awards for her literary works. It also includes the Padma Vibhushan which is India’s 2nd highest civil award. Also, she was entitled to Saraswati Samman. She was born on July 19th, 1909 in Nalapat. It is located in the Malabar district. Her father was Chittanjoor Kunhunni Raja and her mother was Nalapat Kochukutti Amma. Balamani Amma started writing poetry under the guidance of their maternal uncle and she was greatly influenced by Vallathol Narayana Menon and Nalapat Narayana Menon.
