Answer: Periyar, also known as E.V. Ramaswamy Naicker, was the man who initially conceptualised the self-respect movement. It was a dynamic social movement with the goal of destroying the current Hindu social order in its entirety and establishing a new society that was rational and free from caste, religion, and god.
There are a number of contemporary political parties in Tamil Nadu that can trace their roots back to the Self-respect movement. Two of these parties are the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
S. Ramanathan founded it in 1925, inviting E. V. Ramasamy (also known as Periyar by his followers) led the anti-Brahminism movement in Tamil Nadu, India.
