Because it feels and looks like silk, synthetic silk is known as rayon. Wood pulp is used to create rayon fabrics in their initial stages.

In contrast to the actual silk that is produced by silkworms, which requires a great deal of skill, effort, and time taken to complete, artificial silk, or rayon, is manufactured in factories, processed all at once in bulk, and needs less manpower and knowledge.
