Answer: The embryo is the first stage of a multicellular organism’s development. Embryonic development is the stage of life that, in sexually reproducing organisms begins shortly after conception and continues through the production of bodily structures such as tissues and organs.

A unique tissue called the placenta provides nutrition to the embryo inside the mother’s womb. The embryo develops in the mother’s womb and receives nutrition from the mother’s blood via the placenta, a tissue. During pregnancy, the placenta develops as a temporary organ in the uterus.
