The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education is a government agency tasked with prescribing courses of instruction and textbooks, as well as conducting examinations for secondary school students in Himachal Pradesh. Its headquarters are in Dharmshala, and it was founded in 1969. The first chairman was Kangra’s Kultar Chand Rana. The Board now has over 8000 schools affiliated with it. Every year, the Board establishes 1650 examination centres for over 500,000 examinees. Sh Akshey Sood (HAS) is the current Secretary of the HPBOSE, who was appointed by the Himachal Pradesh government. The current chairman of the board is Dr. Suresh Soni.
