Mode of Nutrition in Plant

Nutrition is a key element for the growth of plants and animals. Autotrophic and heterotrophic are two modes of nutrition for plants and animals.

Nutrition is one of the most important portions of the NDA exam as there are plenty of questions asked in the NDA exam from this part.

Nutrition is one of the most important elements that is required for the growth and development of plants and animals. There are mainly two modes of nutrition such as Autotrophic and heterotrophic through the nutrition gained by the plants and animals. The plants use the autotrophic mode of nutrition for the collection of necessary resources for their development and growth. In this mode of nutrition, the plants create their own nutrition and take it for their growth. As nutrition is created by plants, it is called autotrophic nutrition. On the other hand, humans, as well as animals, take their nutrition through heterotrophic mode as they depend on plants and other things for their nutrition.

Definition of nutrition

Nutrition is defined as the necessary minerals and components that are required for the growth and development of plants and animals. It is nothing but a composition of chemicals on which the growth of a species depends.  Carbohydrates, Minerals, Proteins, vitamins, fats, etc. are some of the common nutrients that are required for the growth of species. There is a significant role of nutrition in plants and animals but the mode of nutrition in both are different. Plants make their nutrition so they come under the category of autotrophic. On the other hand, animals and humans fall under the category of heterotrophic as they take the nutrients from the secondary source such as plants, fruits, and other sources.

Role of Nutrition in the growth of plants and animals

There is a very important role of nutrition in the growth of animals and plants. If nutrition is not given to the plants and animals, it will be difficult for their survival and they will suffer from several diseases that have been stated below.

Disease in animals due to poor nutrition

There are several types of diseases such as rickets, immune and nerve disorder, etc. which occur due to poor nutrition in the animals. It has been seen that rickets disease occurs due to the deficiency of vitamin D in the animals. On the flip side, immune and nerve disorder occurs in animals due to a lack of vitamins such as vitamin c, zinc, etc.

Disease in plants due to poor nutrition

There are some diseases such as yellowing of leaves of plants, purplish-red coloring, etc. occur in the plants due to lack of essential nutrients in it. The disease of yellowing of leaves occurs due to the lack of chlorophyll in the plants and so on. Hence, it can be stated that there is a vital role of nutrition in the growth of plants and animals.

Disease due to the deficiency of nutrition in the plants

There are five major symptoms that are caused due to the deficiency of nutrients in plants and animals. Some of the diseases that occur in the plants due to the deficiency of nutrients are stunted interveinal chlorosis, purplish-red coloring, growth, necrosis, and chlorosis. Stunted interveinal chlorosis is a disease in the plants due to which the color of leaves of plants gets yellow and weak. This disease occurs in plants due to a deficiency of chlorophyll. publish-red coloring is a disease in plants in which the color of the leaves changes to pink and the activity of chloroform is not done appropriately in the plant. One of the main causes of this disease in the plants is due to deficiency of phosphorus in it.

Conclusion

From this study, it has been found that nutrition plays a very important role in the growth of plants. A detailed description of the different essential components of nutrition has been given in this study with appropriate examples. Apart from these, various types of diseases that occur due to deficiency of nutrition in animals and plants have been appropriately discussed in this study. It has also been seen that in animals the disease named ricket occurs due to the lack of vitamin D in the animals. On the other hand, the yellowing of leaves of plants is a common disease that is seen in plants. This disease occurs in the plants due to a deficiency of chlorophyll in it. Hence, it can be concluded that there is equal demand for nutrition in plants and animals.
