A typist is a person who uses the keyboard to enter text. A typist has typing speed and accuracy as well as knowledge of how words are structured on a computer keyboard and the need to understand proper grammar. Typists can work from a prepared script or from memory (a blind typist). Typists are generally employed by various organizations. The most common jobs for typists are to type letters, memoranda, and reports for a variety of purposes. While working as a typist, you may also be required to train other people on how to use the word processing software. Typing is one of the most important job skills required by an employer in different companies. A typist’s skill that requires one to enter text by using only a computer keyboard or typewriter is called data entry. Hence, typist means to enter data into a computer. The basic core skills required in order to become a typist are good typing skills. Speed and accuracy are the two major factors that determine the typing skill of an individual. A person is said to be a good typist if he/she can achieve high typing speed and accuracy in his/her work. Typists should also be equipped with knowledge about the rules for using the keyboard, such as how words are structured on the keyboard. A professional has to type with utmost precision and speed so as not to let down her clients and employers by producing low quality output.
About the post of Typist offered by Kerala PSC:
Candidates who are looking for job opportunities in Government Sector or Private sector should apply for Typist Posts. The Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) has announced that it is going to conduct an exam on behalf of the Kerala PSC in order to recruit 5,000 Typist Posts.
Notification 2022 for Typist:
As per the official notification of Kerala PSC, the following conditions are required for the applicants to fill the online application form:
1) Typing speed required for Typist Exam:
The notification states that candidates should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute in English and 35 words per minute in Malayalam. A typist should be familiar with the use of a computer keyboard and have knowledge about the rules for entering words on a computer keyboard. Typists used to working with traditional typewriters or older computer keyboards may need to learn new ways of operating their keyboard.
2) Age limit for Typist Exam:
The candidates who are planning to apply for Typist posts should be 18 years old as on the date of exam.
3) Educational Qualification:
In order to fill Typist Recruitment, the following educational qualification is required for filling up the application form.
i. If a candidate is working for different departments of government and wants to become a Typing section worker in an organization, then he/she should hold only a computer operator/ typist certificate issued by Government of India or any other national or state government.
ii. Any candidate belonging to SC/ ST category should have a Computer Operator Certificate issued by the Government of India or any other national or state government.
4) Application fee for Typist:
Applicants will be paying a non-refundable application fee for Typist examination. Following are the fees to be paid by applicants to fill up the online application form and write entrance examination for Typist posts.
Conclusion:
Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) has declared notification for the post of Typist in which 59 posts are there. So, candidates who are willing to apply can send an application in time.
