The main objective of UNU  is to help in resolving the issues that are faced on a global basis. The global issues are associated with human welfare and development, which are resolved with the help of joint efforts of education and research. Moreover, it has been observed that India has strongly supported the regulations and actions taken by the UNU in order to resolve the global issues of human development. The main area of discussion of this paper is the relation of the international unit and India with UNU.

Overview of United Nations University

The UNU is considered the main branch of research and education in terms of human development and welfare. According to certain reports, the UN in terms of human development and welfare on a global basis faces various issues. Thus, in order to fix these issues, the UNU, in collaboration with appropriate research and education, has established several strategies. It has been observed that the UNU first conduct research on the experienced problems that are relevant to the UN along with the member of states, and then develop several strategies in order to mitigate those global issues. Moreover, the University of the UN offers post-graduate programs and science-based programs in order to work for the UN and the “Governments of Member Stares” (GMS). The UNU and its members also function as a “think tank” for the UN and GMS.

Purpose of the United Nations University

The main mission or goal, or objective of the UNU is associated with the contribution in order to put appropriate and effective efforts into resolving the global issues related to human welfare, development, and survival. This mission is achieved through the collaboration of research, education, advisory services, and dissemination. Since these global issues are considered the concerns of the UN and its GMS, the concerned university has developed several strategies in order to fix the issues.

Relation between India and United Nations University

India has supported the idea and regulations of the UNU in order to resolve the global issue of human development and welfare. India has also made significant contributions in order to implement the specialized agencies and programs of the UNU. Furthermore, with such deep engagement of India for supporting the actions and programs of the UNU, it can be estimated that this engagement of India is due to the dedicated commitment and multilateralism of the Indian government. Additionally, the dedicated commitment and the dialogues are referred to as the key factor in order to achieve the shared goals and objectives along with responding to common challenges.

India and its government have strongly believed that actions and norms of the UN and international relations are some of the means through which the global challenges of the contemporary days can be tackled in the most effective way. Some of the global challenges, including sustainable development, poverty eradication, climate change, human rights, and human welfare, can be handled with the collaborative effort of the UNU, India, and international relations.

Relation between United Nations University and International Relations

The UN has made huge contributions in a positive way to maintain international security and peace, develop internationally, and promotes cooperation within the states. However, in contemporary days, people experience two major global issues that are in accordance with development and peace. Thus, the UNU, with collaborative and effective effort with international relations, has achieved success in terms of resolving and meeting the global challenges of human welfare and development along with international security and peace. In this regard, the UN also plays a critical role in the development of international security and peace. It has also been stated that in order to strengthen the role and power of the UNU, the equal participation of the UN and the GMS along with the international affairs is absolutely necessary. Moreover, the need for the support of international relations in terms of the actions and regulations of the UNU was associated with two major areas of conflict, that is, “Harmony of human interests” and “sufficiency of the reason for promoting right conduct”. Thus, due to the occurrence of these major conflicts, the support of international relations is required for the research and education purpose of the university.

Conclusion

UNU is referred to as the main branch of education and research purposes in order to deal with the welfare, survival, and development of humans. India, with its dedicated commitment and multilateralism, has always supported the actions and norms of the UNU in order to mitigate and overcome the global issues of human survival and welfare. Moreover, the contributions from international relations have helped the UNU and the GMS in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the university and also of the UN.
