Recently, the political contacts between these two countries have strengthened much more than earlier, which is why the countries’ leaders are frequently visiting their countries. Indian Presidents and Prime Ministers have visited Vietnam earlier to congratulate them on their victory in achieving freedom. The political, cultural, economic, and tourism relationships of these two countries are very strong. Indians prefer Vietnam’s several places as their favourite holiday destinations because of the amazing ambience and hospitality.

The relationship history between India and Vietnam

In terms of talking about the relationship history between these two countries, it can be said that both of these countries are traditionally close and have cordial relations from earlier times till now. At the time of Vietnam’s freedom fighting, India supported the country a lot, and after they achieved victory, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru visited Vietnam in 1954. He was “one of the first visitors to the country” after defeating the French. This shows the intensity of the country’s relationship. In 1958, Vietnam’s President Ho Chi Minh visited India and later after that, “Indian President Rajendra Prasad visited Vietnam in 1959”.

History says that these two nations shared an extremely strong bond and supported each other in tough times. The political relations of these countries are also peaceful, and both of them have maintained this relationship with dedication and responsibility till now.

Present Relationship conditions of the two countries

The present relationships of these two countries are very peaceful, and both of them are getting quite a benefit by trading with each other. Present data of import and export of India and Vietnam are moving positively. That is why these two countries have signed 12 agreements recently, which is clear proof of their collaboration in the future . India has extended its hands of support by providing a “$500 million line of credit to Vietnam” for facilitating intense defence cooperation with the “Southeast Asian nation”. Both countries have tied up together for a “comprehensive strategic partnership” to respond to present regional challenges. The commercial and economic relationship between India and Vietnam is increasing daily. India has become one of the preferable business partners of Vietnam by securing its position in “Vietnam’s top 10 trading partners”.

The cultural bond between the two countries

In September 2016, India opened a cultural centre in Hanoi in order to increase the awareness of Indian Culture in Vietnam and define the presence of Indian Culture in Vietnam. As discussed earlier, the strategic partnership has stepped into its 10th anniversary last 2017. The year became a year of celebration as many events, programs, academic seminars, food festivals, and conferences were held in Vietnam. Both countries celebrated these events with joy and pleasure.

As the two country’s relationship is very old and deep, they used to share a strong cultural bond. Vietnamese love to visit India, explore the mesmerising beauty of Indian cities and villages, and explore unseen sides of Indian culture. Indians also love to visit Vietnam and learn more about the country’s culture, art, food and history.

Importance of the relationship between India and Vietnam

Two countries rarely share such a beautiful and strong friendship in the competitive world. In terms of talking about the importance of these two country’s relations, it can be said that when two countries are aiming to expand their economic, financial, traditional, cultural and trading relationship together, that means the countries are trying to expand their friendship and bonds by exchanging their thoughts and opinions. Frequent visits in this country prove how much they are to each other. The increasing friendship between the two Governments increases the bond between the people of these two nations.

Conclusion

Both nations are so involved that their food habits and cultural preferences have almost merged. An increasing number of deals and frequent meetings of the leaders prove that the countries are thinking something unique and new and will surprise the world with their “Comprehensive strategic partnership”. Of course, there is no surety of the future, but if both countries try to maintain peace and friendship between each other, they will set an example for the entire world that two different countries can become friends for a long, long time. Strong friendship of these countries will increase the business income and the income generated from tourism will also be increased because people will feel securer to visit this country as the relations of these countries are extremely strong and special.
