Eligibility Criteria

Karnataka CET 2021 Registration

The eligibility criteria for candidates appearing in the Karnataka CET (Common Entrance Test) is as follows:  

Academic eligibility as per rule 3 of CET 2006 admission rules is as follows – 

(i) Those who have passed the qualifying examination at institutions other than those indicated in the notification on the VTU website are NOT eligible, and candidates who have passed at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) are also NOT eligible.

(ii) No candidate may be admitted to Government Seats unless he is a citizen of India.

(iii) A candidate who is awaiting results of the qualifying exam (i.e., 2nd PUC / 12th Standard in 2021) may write the Common Entrance Test 2021, but he/she will be ineligible for enrollment to any undergraduate course if they do not pass the qualifying examination with the requisite score.

(iv) The educational qualifications/eligibility requirements set by the Competent Authority in regulations/guidelines will determine eligibility from time to time.

(v) Eligibility, admissions, and allotments made to and by institutions are subject to clearance by MCI/DCI/AICTE/COA/CCIM/Government/Concerned University/Apex Bodies/etc.

NOTE:  

  • Candidates who do not clear all subjects in the qualifying test, and those who do not meet the academic requirements for different Professional Courses, would not be considered for admission to the courses
  • A candidate who passes all the subjects in the qualifying examination and then withdraws one or more subjects to retake the qualifying test in order to improve his performance will not be considered for seat allotment in the normal round and will be classified as a supplemental candidate
  • The SC, ST, Category-I, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B eligibility criteria apply to candidates declaring qualifications for Government seats in clauses (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k), (l), and (o) but are not relevant to clauses (c), (d), (e), (g), I (m), and (n) of Item – 6, i.e. Eligibility Clauses to claim Government Seats
  • A candidate who has completed the qualifying examination with the required marks, as well as a candidate who is taking the qualifying exam and waiting for the results, is eligible for Common Entrance Test – 2021
  • Students taking the Karnataka 2nd PUC Annual 2021 examination do not need to give their Q. E. marks card to the KEA since they would be collected automatically from the Department of PUE. All other students who have passed the Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th standard before 2021 and those who are appearing for the 2021 annual 12th standard examination (such as CBSE, CISCE, 10+2, from other boards, including J & K) in 2021 must enter their marks details online or send a photocopy of their 12th standard marks card to KEA mentioning their CET Number. Repeater candidates of Karnataka 2nd PU should also provide a photocopy of their results card before 10-08-2021. However, such students’ results will be withheld due to lack of Q. E. Marks. Intermediary ranks / Spot ranks shall be assigned to applicants whose results are withheld until a photocopy of the qualifying exam marks sheet is submitted

Academic Eligibility for various Professional Courses

  • If a candidate wants to be admitted to the first year of the Architecture course (B.Arch), she or he must have cleared an examination at the end of the 2nd PUC / 12th Std / 10+2 scheme of examination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects, or have passed a 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as a mandatory course. Additionally, the rules provided in NATA / JEE Paper-2, and relevant Government directives apply
  • If a candidate wishes to take admission to the first year of Engineering / Technology courses (B.E. / B.Tech), he or she must have passed the 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages, Physics, and Mathematics, as well as Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Electronics / Computer, and the criteria for determining the merit/rank will be solely based on the marks obtained in PCM in CET. (There are no minimum marks in the CET)
  • If a candidate wishes to enrol in the first year of one of the Farm Science courses i.e. B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons) Sericulture, B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture, B.Sc. (Hons) Forestry, B.Tech. Biotechnology, B.Sc. (Hons) Community Science, B.Tech. (Agril. Engg)B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Technology), B.F.Sc. (Fisheries),  B.Sc. (Hons) Ag. Maco., they need to have passed the 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as optional subjects
  • In the context of the Agriculturist Quota, the merit list would be prepared using 50 percent of the marks obtained in the relevant CET combinations and 50 percent of the marks obtained in the Practical Test
  • A minimum of 50% in the Practical Examination is necessary to secure a place under the Agriculturist Quota. Also, the Agriculturist Quota is only applicable to the courses listed in Sl. Nos. 3 and 4 i.e. Farm Science and Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry courses. The criterion for evaluating merit/rank would be based solely on the marks received in PCB in CET. (There are no minimum marks in the CET)
  • If a candidate wishes to enrol in the first year of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) program, he or she must have completed the 2nd PUC / 12th Std. with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as courses. In case of B.V.Sc. and AH, merit will be calculated using 50% of the marks obtained in CET (Physics, Chemistry,, and Biology) and 50% of the marks obtained in the practical test. Thus the only criterion for calculating merit/rank would be marks earned in PCB in CET. (There are no minimum marks in the CET)
  • If a candidate wishes to enroll in the first year of the B-Pharma program, he or she should have completed the 2nd PUC / 12th Std with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. OR Passed a Diploma in Pharmacy Examination from an accredited institution recognized by Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act. The criterion for determining merit/rank based on only marks obtained in PCM or PCB Subjects (whichever is greater) in CET. (There are no minimum marks in the CET)
  • If a candidate wishes to enroll in the 2nd Year B. Pharma, he or she must have passed a Diploma in Pharmacy Examination from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act, and the criteria for determining merit/rank will be based solely on the marks obtained in PCM or PCB Subjects (whichever is higher) in CET
  • If a candidate wants admission to the first year of the course Pharma-D, he or she should have passed the 2nd PUC / 12th Std with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. OR Passed a Diploma in Pharmacy Examination from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act. The criterion for determining merit/rank is based only on marks secured in PCM or PCB Subjects (whichever is greater) in CET. (There are no minimum marks in the CET)
  • If a candidate wishes to get admission to the first year of the Naturopathy & Yoga program, he or she must have passed 2nd PUC / 12th Std with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optionals and English among the languages of study. Thus, the only criterion for calculating merit/rank would be marks earned in PCB in CET. (There are no minimum marks in the CET)

Additionally, students applying for admission to B.Pharma, Pharma-d, and Naturopathy & Yoga programs must be at least seventeen years old as on December 31, 2021. Candidates who have completed the Diploma in Pharmacy program and wish to apply for admission to Pharma-D must send a duplicate of their D-Pharma (final year) marks sheet with the clearly printed CET number to the KEA on or before 10.08.2021. If this condition is not met, the candidate will not be awarded a rank

Candidates who have completed the Diploma in Pharmacy course and wish to enroll in the second year of B-Pharma (Lateral Entry) may send a photocopy of their D-Pharma (final year) Marks card with the CET number clearly printed to KEA on or before 10-08-2021. If this condition is not met, the candidate will not be awarded a rank

IMPORTANT: In case qualifying marks vary for any reason after document verification or seat allotment, and the applicant consequently becomes ineligible, it is the candidate’s obligation to notify KEA authorities for removal of rank, cancellation of rank, or cancellation of a seat granted, if any. Neither KEA nor the government can be held accountable if the nomination or seat is denied by any University or Competent Authority in the future owing to ineligibility for a certain program. Also, KEA’s seat allotment is subject to clearance by the relevant University / Competent Authority.

General Eligibility Clauses & Conditions 

NOTE:

(i) No applicant shall be able to get admission to Government Seats unless he/she is an Indian citizen and meets the below-mentioned criteria: –

(ii) Every condition is given as a sentence and is referred to by means of a code. The documents that must be furnished during the document verification in support of the claim in each of the Clauses are included below the appropriate clauses.

(iii) Candidates who may not meet any of the Clauses / Eligibility Criteria outlined below, as well as those who do not present the requisite papers in original, would be ineligible for entrance to professional courses with Government quota seats.

(iv) In addition to the certificates stated in the clauses, if there is a candidate seeking a seat under Article 371 (j) Hyderabad-Karnataka region reservation, he/she should produce an eligibility certificate from the concerned Assistant Commissioner in the prescribed format.

The eligibility clauses are as follows – 

  • As per code a, The candidate must have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government-recognized academic institutions located in the State of Karnataka for a minimum of SEVEN academic years, beginning with 1st standard and ending with 2nd PUC / 12th standard as on 1st July of the year in which the Entrance Test is held, but must have written and passed SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examinations from Karnataka State. When a candidate takes more than one year to complete a class or standard, the years of academic research are only counted as one year itself

1) Candidate’s Study Certificate

2) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate

3) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card

4) If claiming Rural quota: – Rural Study Certificate from 1st to 10th std for Ten Complete Years

5) If claiming reservation benefits: Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar- For SC/ ST in Form-D, Category-I in form E and 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B in Form F

6) If claiming Kannada Medium quota: Kannada Medium Study Certificate from 1st to 10th std for Ten Complete Years

  • As per code b, The candidate must have studied and passed either the first and second year Pre-University Examination or the eleventh and twelfth standard examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government, and either parent must have studied in Karnataka for a minimum of 7 years

Documents to be produced:

1) If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F.

2) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks sheet of the candidate

3) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card

4) (a) a study certificate for either of the parent having studied for at least 7 years in Karnataka from the Head of the educational institution where he/she had studied

(b) the candidate’s study certificate for having studied both 1st & 2nd PUC or 11th & 12th standard in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution

  • As per Code c, The candidate and either of the parent’s mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava and either of the parents was domiciled in the state of Karnataka. Such a candidate should have passed the qualifying examination from a University, Board, or any other Institution located outside Karnataka and should be residing outside the State of Karnataka as on May 1st, 2021. The candidate has to pass a Kannada Language exam administered by KEA

Documents to be produced : 

1) 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with 

2) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card

3) Candidate / Father / Mother 10th standard marks card / cumulative record in original showing mother tongue as Kannada / Tulu / Kodava

4) a domicile certificate issued by concerned Revenue or Municipal Authorities certifying that the candidate and his either of parents has resided outside Karnataka as on 01-05-2021. The place of the issuing authority must be the same as the place of domicile of the candidate / father / mother. The place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the father/mother

5) Candidate’s Study certificate, Transfer Certificate

6) a domicile certificate issued by concerned Revenue Authorities of the state of Karnataka regarding the previous domicile of the father / mother of the candidate as a place in the state of Karnataka. The place of the Issuing authority should correspond to the place of domicile of the candidate/father/mother

7) A duly sworn declaration regarding the mother tongue of the candidates

  • As per Code d, Any candidate whose native language is Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava should have lived and studied for 7 YEARS between the first and twelfth grades in the disputed Kannada speaking areas of South Solapur, Akkalkot, Jath, or Gadhinglaj Taluka of Maharashtra, or Kasargod, Hosadurga, or Manjeshwar Taluks of Kerala. The candidate must  pass a Kannada Language test conducted by KEA

Documents to be submitted:

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card and 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks sheet of the candidate 

2) A duly sworn declaration regarding the mother tongue of the candidate.

3) Residential certificate from the concerned Tahsildar of the respective disputed Taluk.

4) Candidate’s study certificate issued by the head of an institution, which should be countersigned by the Taluk Education Officer.

5) Candidate / Father / Mother 10th standard marks card / cumulative record in original in support of mother tongue as Kannada / Tulu / Kodava.

NOTE: Candidates claiming eligibility under Clauses ‘c’ and ‘d’ above, should know how to speak, read and write Kannada and must secure a minimum of 12 marks in Kannada Language Test to be conducted by KEA on 30-08-2021. Otherwise, they will not be allotted a rank.

  • As per Code e, In the case of a student who is the son or daughter of a defense official who has worked in Karnataka for a minimum of one year throughout the two-year term of education of candidates in PUC / 11th and 12th Standard. The candidate must have attended and cleared the qualifying examination at any Government or Government-recognized educational institution in the state of Karnataka

Documents to be produced :

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card

2) The candidate’s study certificate of having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution

3) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Sheet of the candidate 

4) Employment certificate provided to parents, issued by the Controlling Office indicating the period during which he has worked in the State of Karnataka.

  • As per Code f, the Son or daughter of a serving Defense official from Karnataka who reported his or her hometown as a location in the state of Karnataka at the time of entering the Defense service. Proof of such residence shall be collected and provided by obtaining the extract from the AG’s respective branch (Army Headquarters) of integrated HQ of MoD for Officers and respective Record Offices for JCOs / OR. Also, the candidate should have cleared the Q. E. from a university, board, or institution located anywhere in India

Documents to be produced:

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks sheet

2) If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar as per the prescribed format 

3) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Sheet of the candidate;

4) Parent’s home town declaration certificate at the time of joining the defense service issued by respective branch of integrated HQ of MoD for Officers and respective Record Offices for JCOs / OR.

  • As per Code g, a candidate who is the son or daughter of a defense personnel who has been posted in Karnataka for at least one year and is on duty in Field / Active Service, and his family is allowed to remain in Karnataka by Defense Authorities. Such applicants should have completed the qualifying examination at a Government or Government-recognized educational institution in Karnataka

Documents to be produced :

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card

2) The candidate’s study certificate for having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution.

3) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marksheet of the candidate 

4) Service certificate of the parent issued by the Controlling Office certifying the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka and a certificate showing the present place of posting, evidencing that his family is permitted to stay in Karnataka. The present working place of the parent should be indicated in NAME and not by CODE NUMBERS.

  • As per Code h, Son or daughter of an ex-servicemen who had declared a place in Karnataka as his home town at the time of joining the defence service. Proof of domicile should be obtained from the “Deputy Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement” of that District and countersigned by the Director Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement. Further, the candidate should have passed the Q. E. from a University or Board located anywhere in the country

1) SSLC / 10th standard Mark sheet

2) If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B in Form-F

3) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks sheet of the candidate

4) Parent’s home town declaration certificate while joining the service issued by the Joint Director / Deputy Director of the concerned district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore. 

  • As per Code i, any candidate who is the son or daughter of a Union Government employee or an employee of Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking and is liable to be moved across India according to the terms and conditions of his employment and has continued to work in Karnataka for a minimum of one year during the two-year period of study of candidates in PUC / 11th and 12th Standard. And such applicant has studied at and cleared the qualifying exam at any Government or Government-recognized educational institution in the state of Karnataka

Documents to be produced :

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card. 

2) The candidate’s study certificate for having studied 2nd PUC or equivalent examination in Karnataka issued by the head of the educational institution.

3) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate 

4) A certificate from the employer indicating the parent as an employee of the Union Government or an employee of the Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking and certifying that that he is transferable anywhere in India.

5) A certificate from the employer indicating the parent’s period of employment in the State of Karnataka and also showing that he is transferable anywhere in India.

  • As per Code j, Son or daughter of a working or retired Union Government employee or employee of Karnataka State Government undertaking or Joint Sector undertaking where such employee; (a) declared to the employer at the time of joining service a place in Karnataka as his hometown; and (b) studied in any Government or Government recognised educational institution or institutions located in Karnataka for at least seven years; and was or is responsible for transferred anywhere in India as per the terms and conditions of his employment.  Also, the candidate should have passed the Q. E. from a university, board, or any other institution in India

Documents to be produced :

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card

2) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks sheet

3) If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F 

4) Home town declaration certificate of the parent employee at the time of joining the service and showing that he is transferable anywhere in India issued by the employer

5) A study certificate of the parent to indicate having studied for at least 7 years in the State of Karnataka issued by the Head of the educational institution where he / she had studied

  • As per Code k, Son or daughter of Karnataka-elected members of Parliament. Also, the candidate must have cleared the Q. E. from a university, board, or any other institution in India

Documents to be produced:

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card

2) Certificate showing that the parent is / was a Member of Parliament elected from Karnataka issued by the Parliament Secretariat.

3) If claiming reservation benefits :- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F.

4) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks sheet

  • As per Code l, Son or daughter of a serving or retired employee: (a) of the All India Service of Karnataka cadre; or (b) of the Karnataka State Government who is currently serving or has served outside the State of Karnataka even during the period of candidate’s study outside the State from 1st standard to 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination

Documents to be produced:

1)2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks sheet

2) SSLC / 10th standard Marks sheet

3) Certificate from the Principal Secretary / Deputy Secretary / Under Secretary, DPAR, Government of Karnataka, Bangalore in which the parent belongs to All India Service of Karnataka cadre mentioning that the parent is a member of such All India Cadre. The certificate should also indicate the period during which he has served or is serving outside the state of Karnataka. If the parent is a State Government Employee, a certificate issued by the concerned Head of the Department or Head of the Office where such parent is employed should be produced in this regard.

4)  If claiming reservation benefits :- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar- For SC / ST in Form-D, Category-I in Form-E and 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B in Form-F

  • As per Code m, a son or daughter of Jammu and Kashmiri migrants. Proof of migration (IDENTITY CARD)  shall be obtained from the jurisdictional “District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner” of any state in India

Documents to be submitted:

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks sheet

2) An original certificate (IDENTITY CARD) issued by the Jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of any state in India, as the proof of migration. Candidates claiming eligibility under this clause are eligible only for the seats earmarked by the Government

3) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks sheet

  • As per Code n, Candidates who have completed 10 complete academic years in Kannada Medium from 1st to 10th grade in locations outside Karnataka and have cleared the qualifying exam from a Government or Government recognized educational institutions. Such applicants are exempt from the Kannada Language Test conducted by the KEA

Documents to be produced :

1) SSLC / 10th standard Marks sheet

2) A domicile certificate issued by the concerned Revenue or Municipal Authorities certifying that the candidate and his father / mother have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on 01-05-2021. The place of the Issuing authority must be the same as the place of domicile of the candidate/father / mother

3) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card 

4) Candidate’s Study certificate, for having studied in Kannada Medium from 1st standard to 10th standard issued by the head of the institution

  • As per Code o, Son / Daughter of a working or retired Central Armed Police Force employee who, at the time of enrolment in the CAPF service (Central Armed Police Force), mentioned a location in the State of Karnataka. Proof of such domicile must be produced by obtaining an extract from the Record Office of the CAPF Unit in which the Parent’s service record is kept. Also, the candidate must have cleared the Q. E. from a university, board, or other organization in India

Documents to be produced:

1) 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks sheet

2) SSLC / 10th standard Marks sheet

3) Parent’s hometown declaration certificate while joining the service issued by the Record Office of the CAPF unit in which the parent’s service records are kept

4) If claiming reservation benefits:- Caste / Caste Income Certificate issued by Concerned Tahsildar as per the prescribed format

NOTE: If any of the documents submitted in relation to the Clauses mentioned above is discovered to be false/incorrect, the candidate’s seat would be cancelled at once. There will be no refund of the fee amount.
