Magnets are used in a variety of electrical gadgets in our daily lives, including televisions, radios, microwaves, and other appliances. Natural magnets or electromagnets can both be employed in these situations. An electromagnet is a transient magnet that only works when an electric current is provided. Electromagnets come in a variety of sizes, from tiny to massive.

Uses of magnets

The daily uses of magnet are given below:

Refrigerators

The most common application of a magnet is in the refrigerator/closing fridge’s door. A narrow inner magnetic strip, which is a magnet, is contained in the refrigerator gasket that seals the door.

In automobiles

Strong permanent magnets are used in hybrid and electric automobiles. These autos’ magnets are built of materials that have a high proportion of rare earth permanent magnets, which are both expensive and in short supply. Maglev trains operate on the North-South magnetic field principle and make a significant contribution to the field of sustainable transportation.

In jewelry

Permanent magnets are used in a variety of jewelry, including bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and beads, to keep the jewelry in place.

Magnets applications

1.Appliances for the Home

The majority of electrical appliances in our houses operate on the electromagnetic concept. Electromagnets can be used in a variety of ways at home, including:

 Electric Doorbell

 Induction Cooker

2.Medical Science

Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, allows your doctor to observe your inside organs, bones, and tissues without the need for surgery. As a result, MRI functions on the basis of electromagnetic waves.

3.Devices for Memory Storage

Data is saved in the form of bytes and bits in electromagnetic format on electronic devices and phones.

4.Hardware for computers

A magnetic tape is also used in computer hardware, which works on the concept of electromagnetic.

5.Other gadgets

Electric fans, electric bells, credit cards, debit cards, telegraphs, and other gadgets all require magnets.

6.Power Circuits and Communication Devices

The cell phones we use to communicate with people all over the world would not be able to take shape without electromagnets. Mobile phones and telephones are made considerably easier by the interaction of electromagnetic vibrations and communication impulses.

· Using a Magnet to Find Directions

Directions can also be found using a magnet. If a magnet is allowed to travel freely, it will rest on a side that is quite close to the earth’s North-South axis. Travelers exploited this feature of a magnet to locate their way during exploring excursions. A magnetic compass is a gadget with a magnet that is used to find directions. It has a little magnetic needle in the Centre. This needle may freely rotate and always points north-south with relation to the earth.

BAR magnet

A bar magnet is a rectangular magnet with two poles: the North Pole and the South Pole. It is made of iron or any other material with persistent magnetic characteristics. When we leave the bar magnet alone, it will spontaneously align itself so that the North Pole points towards the globe’s magnetic north pole.

Bar Magnets of Various Types

A cylindrical bar magnet and a rectangular bar magnet are the two forms of bar magnets.

Cylindrical Bar Magnet: This type of magnet is commonly found in educational and research institutes. A rod magnet, also known as a cylindrical bar magnet, has a thickness equal to the magnet’s diameter and a high magnetic field.

Rectangular Bar Magnet: Rectangular bar magnets have a strong magnetic field and are more powerful than other magnets. It’s primarily used in the engineering and manufacturing fields.

Bar Magnet Characteristics

A bar magnet’s qualities are as follows:

1)The bar magnet, like other magnets, has two poles: the North Pole and the South Pole. The North and South Poles are still present in the fractured halves of a magnet if it is broken in the Centre.

2)At the poles, the magnet’s magnetic force is quite strong.

3)They will attract each other if two bar magnets are arranged facing N-S or S-N. When two bar magnets are put in an N-N or S-S orientation, they repel each other.

4)The bar magnet may easily attract ferromagnetic particles such as iron, nickel, and cobalt.

5)If the bar magnets are hung freely in the air, they will not come to rest until the poles are aligned North-South.

Bar Magnet Applications

The following are some of the applications for bar magnets:

1)In laboratories, bar magnets are utilized for investigations.

2)They’re also used in medical operations.

3)Electronic equipment such as radios, televisions, and cellphones all use bag magnets.

4)Bag magnets are used in some sectors to keep the power of other magnets and gather loose metals.
