NONAGON

In this article we will discuss the Nonagon.

Different forms of polygons can be found in geometry, as indicated in the diagram below. Based on the number of sides and angles, each of these polygons has different features.

A triangle is a 3-sided polygon, a quadrilateral is a 4-sided polygon, a 5-sided polygon is a pentagon, a 6-sided polygon is a hexagon, a 7-sided polygon is a heptagon, an 8-sided polygon is an octagon, a 9-sided polygon is a nonagon, and a 10-sided polygon is a decagon.

Nonagon:-

Nonagon is a nine-sided polygon with nine internal angles and nine outside angles. The sum of the interior angles of a nonagon is 1260°, and it has 27 diagonals. The sides and angles of a nonagon form can make it regular or irregular.

An enneagon is another name for a nonagon. In many ways, enneagon is a more appropriate phrase, as it uses Greek origins for both its prefix (ennea-, which means nine) and suffix (gon, which means group) (-gon, angled).

Nonagon Properties :-

The qualities of a nonagon that serve to identify it from other polygons are as follows.

  • A polygon having 9 sides, 9 interior angles, and 9 outside angles is known as a nonagon.
  • A nonagon’s interior angles add up to 1260 degrees.
  • Number of  diagonals in the nonagon is 27.

nonagon shape:-

A nonagon is a nine-sided geometric shape that, depending on its sides and internal angles, can be regular, irregular, convex, or concave.

To be classified as a nonagon or enneagon, a shape must possess all of the following characteristics:

  • It’ll have to be two-dimensional (planar)
  • It can only have nine line segments.
  • It has to close in a specific area.

The nonagons’ sides are the nine line segments, which connect to form the nonagons’ angles.

Nonagon angle:-

In a nonagon, there are 9 inside angles and 9 outer angles.

Every nonagon has nine inner angles that add up to 1260 degrees, and nine outer angles that add up to 360 degrees.

Interior Angles of a Nonagon:-

A normal nonagon’s internal angles are 140 degrees each.

Exterior Angles of a Nonagon:-

A normal nonagon’s outside angles are 40 degrees each.

Nonagon diagonal:-

In a nonagon, there are 27 diagonals. The total number of diagonals in a nonagon can be computed using the formula: Number of diagonals in a polygon = ½ ×n ×(n-3), where n is the number of sides in the polygon.

Regular and irregular nonagon:-

Regular nonagon

A normal nonagon has nine sides that are all the same length and nine internal angles that are all the same size. An irregular nonagon, on the other hand, is defined as a nonagon with unequal length sides and angles of varied measures.

Properties of regular nonagon:-

The qualities of a regular nonagon are shown in the following points.

  • All of the sides of a regular nonagon are the same length, and all of the interior angles are the same size.
  • The internal angles of a normal nonagon add up to 1260 degrees, whereas the outer angles add up to 360 degrees.
  • A normal nonagon’s internal angles are all 140 degrees.

Irregular nonagon

Nonagons with irregular sides and internal angles can have a wide range of sizes.A concave polygon is one that has at least one interior angle larger than 180 degrees and always results in an irregular polygon.

Although the angles’ measurements vary, the total sum of all of its inner angles is always 1260°.

Nonagons, both irregular and regular, share the following characteristics:

  • Its nine inner angles total 1260 degrees.
  • It has nine sides, even if some of them intersect.
  • Its nine external angles total 3660 degrees.

Convex Nonagon and Concave Nonagon

The properties of a convex nonagon are as follows.

  • All of the inner angles of a convex nonagon are fewer than 180 degrees.
  • Convex nonagons appear to bulge outwards because each internal angle of a convex nonagon is smaller than 180°.

The properties of a concave nonagon are as follows.

  • At least one of the interior angles of a concave nonagon is a reflex angle.
  • The vertices of a concave nonagon might be inwards, giving it that unusual shape .

How to find the perimeter of Nonagon?

The total length of a polygon boundary is the perimeter of a nonagon. To calculate the perimeter of a nonagon, we must first determine the lengths of all nine sides. The perimeter of a nonagon is equal to the sum of its sides. Because all of the sides of a regular nonagon are the same length, we may calculate the perimeter by multiplying the length of one side by 9.

A nonagon’s perimeter equals the sum of its sides.

Conclusion:-

Nonagon is a nine-sided polygon with nine internal angles and nine outside angles. The sum of the interior angles of a nonagon is 1260°, and it has 27 diagonals.

A polygon having 9 sides, 9 interior angles, and 9 outside angles is known as a nonagon.

Answer:- There are 27 diagonals in a Nonagon.

Answer- A nonagon can be made up of 7 triangles. The diagonals drawn from the vertices of a nonagon can be used to divide it into triangles. The formula for calculating the number of triangles generated by these diagonals is (n – 2), where n is the number of sides.
