Linear graph

In this article we will cover linear graph, linear graph equation, and linear graph meaning. "A straight line is represented graphically by a linear graph.”It shows a two-variable linear equation as well as the linear relationship between two quantities."

A straight line is used to represent a linear graph. A graphical representation is used to show a relationship between two or more quantities. A linear graph is one in which the graph of any relation yields a single straight line. The term “linear” refers to a straight line. A linear graph is a straight line graph drawn on a plane that connects points plotted on the x and y coordinates.

If the rule for that relation is mentioned, the relation between these two variables can be drawn by constructing the table of values. To plot a straight line graph, at least two point coordinates must be known. These points must fit the rule, and such graphs are known as linear graphs when they are drawn.

Linear graph meaning

A graph is a diagram that shows a connection or relationship between two or more quantities. Linear means straight. So, a linear graph is simply a straight line or straight graph drawn on a plane connecting points with x and y coordinates.

The linear graph is used to represent quantitative data between changing variables, and it includes the following features:

  • The title of a line graph describes the graph that will be plotted.

  • The scale is a collection of numbers that describe the linear graph’s units.

  • The type of data represented in the linear graph is indicated by a label on each side and bottom of the graph. The x-axis  describes the data points on the line, and the y-axis shows the numerical value for each point on the line.

  • The data number is calculated using bars. Data values represent the actual numbers for each data point.

 

Linear graph equation 

The graphical representation of a linear equation is a linear graph.

A linear equation is one that can be written as ax + by = c for some real numbers a, b, and c, where a and b are not zero.

How Do You Draw A Linear Equation On A Graph?

  • Consider the steps below to plot a linear equation on a graph.

  • Determine the two varying quantities.

  • Let x be the first number and y be the second.

  • Then, identify three ordered pairs (x, y) that satisfies the given equation.

  • Display these values in a tabular format.

  • Plot the table’s points on a cartesian plane.

  • Connect the dots.

 

For example: Draw a graph of the equation  x+2y=7

By first setting x=0 and then y=0, you can find two solutions that correspond to the graph’s x and y -intercepts.

When x =0, we get:

0+2y=7y=3.5

y=3.5

y=0, then we get, 

x+2(0)=7x=7

x=7

 

As a result, the two points are (0,3.5) and (7,0)

Plot these two points and the line that connects them.

You can also use the slope to help you graph if the equation is in slope-intercept or point-slope form.

In this article, we will cover both the fundamental and advanced concepts of line graphs. Line graphs are commonly used in statistics to represent the change in one quantity in relation to another. For example, the height and weight of the students fluctuate year after year, which we can depict using this graph. This variation is typically represented in a two-dimensional XY plane. As a result, the line graph is frequently referred to as a linear graph.
