Linear equations one variable

In this article we will study about Linear equations one variable, Linear equations in one variable class 9 notes, Linear equations in one variable meaning. A linear equation is a one-variable equation of a straight line. The variable's only power is one.

A linear equation in one variable is the basic equation used to represent and solve for an unknown quantity. It is always a straight line and can be graphically represented. A linear equation is a simplistic way of representing a mathematical statement. Unknown quantities can be represented by any variable or symbol, but in most cases, a variable ‘x’ is used to represent the unknown quantity in a linear equation with only one variable. A linear equation can be solved using a number of simple methods. To find the final value of an unknown quantity, isolate the variables on one side of the equation and the constants on the other.

Linear equations in one variable meaning

A linear equation is a type of equation in which each variable’s degree is exactly equal to one. Linear equations in one variable have only one variable and one solution. It appears to be a straight line when drawn on a graph, either horizontally or vertically.

A linear equation is a one-variable equation of a straight line. The variable’s only power is 1. Linear equations in one variable with the formula ax+b=0 are solved using basic algebraic operations.

Linear equations in one variable class 9 notes

We divide linear equations in one variable into three types

Identity

An identity equation holds true for all possible values of variable. A mathematical expression for identity  3x=2x+x

The solution set is made up of all of the values that make the equation true. The solution set for this equation is all real numbers because any real number substituted for x makes the equation true.

Conditional

A conditional equation is true for only a subset of the variable’s values. For instance, if we solve the equation 5x+2=3x 6, we get the following:

5x+2=3x-6

2x=-8

x=-4

The solution set consists of a single number -4. Because it is the only solution, we have solved a conditional equation.

Inconsistent

A false statement is produced by an inconsistent equation. For example, if we solve 5×15=5(x4), we get the following:

5x-15=5x-20

5x-15-5x=5x-20-5x

-15≠-20

 −15≠−20. , indeed. Because this is an inconsistent equation, there is no solution.

Solving linear equations in one variable necessitates the use of fundamental equality properties as well as basic algebraic operations.

How to Solve a Linear Equation with a one variable

The following are the steps for solving linear equations in one variable:

  1. By adding or subtracting on both sides of the equation, you can keep the variable term on one side and the constants on the other.

  2. Reduce the number of constant terms.

  3. Isolate the variable on one side of the equation by multiplying or dividing the same term on both sides.

  4. Simplify your response and write it down.

Linear equation in one variable graph

It appears to be a straight line when drawn on a graph, either horizontally or vertically.

A linear equation in one variable has the form  ax+b=0, where a and b can be any two integers and x can be any unknown variable with only one solution.

Conclusion

Linear equations one variable, Linear equations in one variable class 9 notes, Linear equations in one variable meaning are all covered in this article. As a result, we conclude that linear equations in one variable can be used to calculate the value of an integer when given two or more integers, one of which is unknown. We can easily find the value of an unknown integer by using the expression in equation form.
