Geometric area formula
The term area can be referred to as the size that is being occupied by the surface that is of two dimensions in nature. Thus, the term area can be defined as the space consumed by an object that is two-dimensional in nature.
The formulas that are being used in finding the geometrical areas have their usage in multiple areas such as agriculture, construction, science, and so on. The determination of the area of the given object can be determined by positioning the object on the grid and measuring the total squares that is been occupied.
Example for geometric area formula
The following example relating to the finding of the square’s area will clarify the theory in a much more detailed manner.
a (square) is the formula that is being used to find the area of the square.
In the formula, the abbreviation of ‘a’ is the length of the side of the given square object. In the same way, there are various geometrical objects to which the use of various formulas takes place to find their appropriate values.
Rectangle: l x w where, l = length and w = width.
Square: Area = a(square) where, a = sides of the given square object
Triangle: ½ b x h where, b = base and h = height
Example: Find the area of a square with the sides 3cm.
Answer: Area = lw i.e, 3*3 = 9 cm2
Example: Find perimeter of a rectangle with 6cm length and 4cm breadth.
Answer: formula: 2 (L+B)
That is, 2*10= 20 cm.
