Number Puzzles

Enhance your mental ability with knowledge of number puzzles. In this article, you will find missing number puzzles with answers. Also, solve several number puzzle questions.

Number puzzles refer to an arrangement of numbers in a special order. It includes spaces left in the box or the order to be filled. A puzzle is a self-explanatory word that is an enigma to solve. A number puzzle is a number game with numbers in rows and different columns. We need to understand the actual pattern on which the number puzzle is based. There are different number puzzle questions; missing number puzzles with answers are explained in this article.

Missing number puzzles are the most common type of number puzzle usually asked in every competitive exam. No matter which sector you are applying to, such as banking, SSC, etc. However, it varies on the difficulty level.

What is a number puzzle problem?

The number puzzle problem is a general mental ability number game. It has a sequential arrangement of numbers in mathematical bodies. Mathematical bodies are such bodies that have some shape and size. For example, box matrix, square, triangle, circle, etc. These mathematical bodies have numbers arranged in a pattern. These patterns can be based on any mathematical tool. Mathematical tools are the equipment that regulates numbers. For example, Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, a square of a number, cube of a number. With the help of a mathematical tool, you can do mathematical operations on rows and columns of number puzzles.

Regulation by mathematical tool means adding two numbers or subtracting, multiplying, or dividing two numbers. You can better understand with the help of number puzzle questions.

Some number puzzle questions

Here, some number puzzle questions are given to understand the number puzzle. Their answers are also given with an explanation to know the type of mathematical operation that is working in each question.

  • 5*4*3 = 4253

7*3*4 = 3494

9*4*3 =?

In the above question, firstly, you have to check the pattern of the two given examples. It becomes easy to solve the question when you get to know the operation working in-between numbers.

The square of the number 5 is 25, given in between 4 & 3. So, you have to solve the question in the same manner.

I.e., the square of the number 9 will be 81, which has to be put between 9 & 3. So, the answer will be 4813. Let’s move to another example.

  • 2+2 = 8

2+3 = 10

3+4 = 21

3+5 =?

The first step should be the same, find the pattern.

2+2 = 4, 4*2 = 8

2+3 = 5, 5*2 = 10

3+4 = 7, 7*3 = 21

3+5 = 8, So 8*3 = 24

24 will be the answer.

  • 15+23 = 11

22+32 = 10

42+36 =?

Step 1-  (1*5) + (2*3)  = 11

              (2*2) + (3*2) = 10

Same as for the third one,

           (4*2) + (3*6) = 8+18 = 26.

  • 324 + 289 = 35

625 + 400 = 45

441 + 484 = 43

256 + 729 =?

The squares of numbers 18 and 17 as 324 and 289 are added as 18 + 17 = 35.

The square of numbers 25 and 20 as 625 and 400 are added as 25 + 20 = 45.

After knowing the pattern, you have to make the same mathematical pattern in the question.

 The numbers 256 and 729 are the squares of numbers 16 and 27, which after adding, become 43. (16 + 27 = 43).

  • 38 + 15 = 66

29 + 36 = 99

82 + 44 =?

Row 1- (3+8) × (1+5) = 66

            (2+9) × (3+6) = 99

(8+2) × (4+4) = 80.

  •  64 ÷ 14 = 5

 92 ÷ 31 = 7

 26 ÷ 11 = 6

 56 ÷ 22 =?

(6+4) – (1+4) = 10-5 = 5

(9+2) – (3+1) = 11-4 = 7

(5+6) – (2+2) = 11-4 = 7

So, seven is the correct answer.

  • 25 ÷ 5 = 15

30 ÷ 6 = 20

35 ÷ 7 =?

Here, 25/2 × 3 = 15

          30/6 × 4 = 20

          So,

          35/7 × 5 = 25.

25 is the correct answer.

Some Missing Number puzzles with answers

Missing number puzzles are number puzzles that involve a mathematical body such as a triangle, square, circle. These mathematical bodies include number patterns in the form of divided rows and columns.

These rows and columns have a sequential arrangement of numbers regulated under mathematical operations(addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square, cubes, etc.)

Same as the above examples, you have to check and understand the patterns of rows and columns and need to fill the blank box mentioned.

The process of filling the box under mathematical bodies demands mathematical tools.

The second thing you need to check is which direction the question is shifting.

For this, you have to compare the 1st row and 1st column to understand where you can find the clue.

After finding the clue, using the same number puzzle pattern will solve your problem.

For example, one missing number puzzle with answers is given below.

im1

Here above, you can see the missing number puzzle question

First of all, check the pattern and the direction of mathematical operations.

For example, 1+4+2 = 7, square of 7 is 49 row 1.

 So in the 3rd row,  5+3+? = 13, square of 13 is 169.

 The Answer is 5.

im2

Here in the above example circle number puzzle,

The square of 2 is 4, 4+1 = 5.

The square of 3 is 9, 9+1 = 10.

Same for the 6, the square of 6 is 36, 36+1 = 37.

The answer is 37.

Conclusion

In the above article, you get acknowledged with number puzzles and how to solve number puzzles. There are many puzzle questions with explanations that will help you practice. The basic idea is understanding the pattern in the first step. Then operate the same pattern in other rows to check its accuracy. After that, move to your question, and put it in the same pattern. You will get the correct answer.

For the missing number puzzles, go through rows and columns in different directions to know the mathematical operations. After finding the correct mathematical operation applied in rows and columns, apply the same to your question. Ultimately, you will get the correct answer.
