How are biomolecules broken down?

18 February, 2022

Ans : Biomolecules are broken down into monomers in a process called hydrolysis. During the hydrolytic reactions, bonds are broken, and energy is released. As a result, the polymer breaks into two components. One part gains a hydrogen atom(H+), and the other gains a hydroxyl molecule(OH-) from the broken water molecule. Note that a specific enzyme breaks down each biomolecule.
