Different examples of Cone, Sphere, Cylinder, and Cuboid

Q. Examples of Cone, Sphere, Cylinder, and Cuboid

Answer: Cuboids, cylinders, cones, and spheres are the 3D solids. All of these shapes allow us to identify different objects around us. For instance, the shape of a cupboard is cuboid. So let us try to learn about each shape individually.

Cone- Cone is a three-dimensional solid figure with a circle at one end and a pointed edge at the other. You can imagine a cone as a pyramid in mummy movies with a circular base. The main elements of the cone are its height, radius, and slant height. The examples of the cone are-

  • Cone of an ice cream
  • Birthday hat
  • Waffle cones
  • Funnel
  • Christmas Tree

Sphere- A sphere is a three-dimensional figure that is round in shape. It is a round figure whose distance is the same from the center to any point on its surface. The main element of a sphere is its radius. Here are some examples of the sphere-

  • All the planets in the universe
  • Cricket ball
  • Moon
  • Stars like Sun
  • Marbles

Cylinder- It is a three-dimensional figure. It consists of two circles as bases joined by parallel lines. The main elements of a cylinder are height and radius. Let us take a look at some real-world examples-

  • Straws
  • Gas cylinder
  • Candles
  • Drink cans
  • Tanks
  • Glass

Cuboid- A cuboid is defined as a three-dimensional figure with six rectangular surfaces perpendicular to each other. It can also have four rectangular and two square faces. Its main elements are breadth, length, and height. Here are some examples of a cuboid-

  • Bed
  • Lunchbox
  • Books
  • Boxes
  • Cabinet
