Print mistake I guess... We should take 3x-y = x+y and we get x=y.

can you please elaborate why the second condition is not possible ....river flowing from B-A because case 1 is x=y and case 2 is -x=y

i think in 2nd case speed is negative which is not possible

No need to think of it mathematically. Given that both aru and chikoo took same time to travel same distance. But we know chikoo is 3x faster than Aru, which means that Aru is going downstream and chikoo upstream. So, x+y = 3x-y is the condition, thus x=y.
