Red soil area is second most area of India, whose area is high in Tamilnadu. The color is due to the red iron oxide. After the red soil, the important area is black soil, which is also called black soil of cotton. Its largest part is in Maharashtra. भारत के दूसरे सर्वाधिक क्षेत्र पर लाल मिटटी पाई जाती है, जिसका क्षेत्र तमिलनाडु में अधिक है। इसका रंग लाल आयरन ऑक्साइड के कारण होता है। लाल मृदा के बाद महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्र काली मिटटी का आता है जिसे कपास की काली मिटटी भी कहते है। इसका सर्वाधिक भू भाग महाराष्ट्र में है।
