There are many type on the basis of soil color, construction, fertility etc. - alluvial soil, red soil, black soil, forest soil, leterite soil, alkaline soil, desert soil etc. पाठ में मृदा का अर्थ और उसके निर्माण के कारकों को शामिल किया गया है। मृदा रंग, निर्माण, उर्वरता आदि के आधार पर अनेक प्रकार की होती है - जलोढ़ मृदा, लाल मृदा, काली मृदा, वन मृदा, लैटेराइट मृदा , क्षारीय मृदा, मरुस्थलीय मृदा आदि।
