Pigments are the substance that have an ability to absorb light at specific wave lengths.Leaf pigments of green plants can be separated through paper chromatography. The pigments in plants are divided into two groups. They are chlorophyll and carotenoid.A curve obtained by plotting the amount of absorption of different wavelengths of light by a particular pigment is called absorption spectrum. The graphical representation showing rate of photosynthesis at different wavelengths of light is called action spectrum.
