A cyclone is large scale air mass that rotates around a strong centre of low atmospheric pressure. A low pressure area surrounded by high pressure area from all the sides along with winds moving from all the sides towards central low. Bay of Bengal is more prone to cyclones and it forms more destructive cyclone than arabian sea. Temperature difference :The low pressure system of cyclone need continuous supply of heat energy and is the Bay of Bengal is landlocked so less circumlocution warmer than arabian sea it is able to provide the heat energy needed to sustain a low pressure system. Cyclones from pacific ocean:The low pressure sys originating from the pacific oceans also travel towards left to bay of bengal and hit the western coast from bay of bengal. Peninsular landmass:The cyclones originating from the bay of bengal side are not able to sustain while travelling above the peninsular landmass due to absence of energy of evaporation and weakened while reaching eastern. Direction of cyclones: The direction of the low pressure sys from right to left hence arabian sea originating cyclones are not able to hit coastal areas are not able to hit coastal areas. Fresh water from rivers fall into bay of bengal making the water as light thin layer, more prone to evaporation.
