Concept of Remainder Part 3

Remember we discussed about Remainder when we divide (N+1)Aodd/even by N and other concept What if the difference between the numerator and denominator is not 1 New Concept!

Suppose you are required to find the remainder when 7450 is divided by 10 CONFUSED Don't Worry....

Let's Learn a Concept - MOD Concept Divide 11 by 3: Rules: P a(mod n) Q- b(mod n) 11 2(mod 3) 4 1(mod 3) 44 2(mod 3) P+Q (a+b)(mod n) 7 1(mod 3) 16- 1(mod 3) P*Q a*b(mod n PAk - aAk(mod n)

Concept of Negative Remainder 1) (+ Remainder) - Divisor - ( - Remainder) 2) (- Remainder) + Divisor ( Remainder) Eg 7 divided by 3, Remainder is 1(+ Remainder) 1-3 -2 (- Remainder) Vice Versa

Let's take up the Question : 7 50 First take 7A2--1(mod 10) NOW THE IDEA IS WE ARE LOOKING FOR SMALL REMAINDER & IF POSSIBLE '1' OR '-1' Next we raise power to 25 (7A2)A25 7A50 (-1)A25(mod 10) =-1 (mod 10) = 6 (mod 10) So answer is 6

Q)What is the remainder when 4A96 is divided by 6? (CAT 2003) Sol) Take 4A2 16 4(mod 6) (4A2)A2 4A4 42(mod 6) 4(mod 6) This process goes on... 4496 4(mod 6) Remainder is 4

Q) Let N-1421*1423* 1425.What is the remainder when N is divided by 12? Sol) 1421 5(mod 12) 1423 7(mod 12) 1425- 9(mod 12) So, 1421* 1423*1425 315(mod 12) - 3(mod 12) Therefore remainder is 12
