Cell volume-Fairly constant and is independent of size of organism. Cell number-Indefinite but may be fixed in some organisms like rotifers and nematodes. The phenomenon of having a constant and genetically fixed number of cells is called eutely.
Division of Labor Each living cell has capacity to perform basic functions. There is division of labor in multicellular organisms. Different parts of cell perform different functions.
Cell organelles Each cell has got specific components within it known as cell organelles Each kind of cell organelle performs a specific function such as a) Making of new material in the cell b) Clearing up waste material from the cell. cell is able to live and perform all its functions because of these organelles.
Types of Cell Cell Prokaryotic ukaryotic
Difference Prokaryotic Eukaryotic size of cell is generally small (1-10 nm Nuclear region (nucleoid) is not surrounded by a nuclear membrane. size of cell is generally large (5-100 nm) > Nuclear membrane is Single chromosomes. Membrane bound cell organelles are absent. present. More than one chromosome. Membrane bound cell organelles are present.
