• Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership:India and Russia maintain a long-standing strategic relationship; diplomatic ties established in 1947.
• Defence Cooperation: Russia is a major defence partner; cooperation includes military hardware, technology transfer, joint production, and INDRA (India–Russia Joint Military Exercise). Russia has also offered cooperation on the Su-57 fifth-generation stealth fighter aircraft.
• Energy Cooperation: Russia is a key supplier of crude oil, natural gas, and nuclear energy. The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (Tamil Nadu) is a flagship example of bilateral nuclear cooperation.
