In statistics, data representation is one of the important things, and it helps to portray the value and calculations through a graphical representation. Pie charts are generally represented as percentage values and it is one of the simple ways to portray the value of the calculations. In mathematics also, pie charts are used for multiple causes and it helps to give a clear idea about the numeric value of calculations. Pie Chart is basically considered a method of presenting any figure or anything.

Discussion

What is a pie chart?

A pie chart is a type of chart which is used for graphical representation of data and it is generally circular in shape. Generally, the numerical value is represented in percentage in a pie chart and a whole circle is valued 100%, and the pie slices represent the portions of the calculations. It has already been said that it looks like a circle and the numerical values have been represented and it is shown in slices.

Uses of Pie Chart

The calculations which can be presented in percentage, pie chart helps to present it wisely, as well as it creates a clear distinction from one slice to another. Here, different types of information can be presented in a pie chart and the information which is related to the real world can also be presented through a pie chart.

Pie chart is generally used when there is a group of data that can be present, and it is one of the easiest ways to portray the data and data set easily and in a simple way. In a dataset, different types of complex data can be present in it, and for this reason, pie charts are considered the most fun chart to present data and it helps to represent data. In a  data set, there are different types of data that can be present, and the data can be dynamic too. For maintaining and presenting the data, and it can be changeable, pie charts are one of the important and significant methods to present the data. It can be highlighted that, when the data and information is less than 6 and it is generally not important to address the data, pie charts are the best and important selection to portray the data through a graphical representation.

Properties of Pie Chart

In another words, it can be said that, pie chart records and holds data in a circular manner, and it is commonly known as pie diagram, which is used to present different types of statistical data and the data helps to give a clear idea about the data set and it can be presented in a simple way, so that it can be understand easily. Also added with it, it can also be noticed that pie diagram/chart is used to compare the data as it is represented in percentage value.

In the case of pie-charts, it helps to make a solid distinction between proportions and percentages between categories, and it can be divided within a circle. One proportion highlights one slice of the whole circle, and for this clear distinction, in many calculations, pie charts are used to represent data and maintain the data in an easier method. The total sum of all slices of the circle has to be equivalent to 100.

Types and Example of Pie Chart

There are different types of pie that can be seen and it helps to present the data, and it is one of the important methods to understand the distinction of data in a graphical representation. As it is an easy and understandable method to present data, pie charts are used in different areas to present data. Generally, 2 types of pie charts can be noticed and these are- ‘2D Pie chart’ and ‘3D Pie Chart’.

‘2D Pie Chart’

From the name of the pie chart, it can be understood that it is a 2-dimensional pie chart, and the pie chart represents data set in percentage. There are also some divisions that can also be noticed in 2D Pie charts and these are ‘Simple pie chart, Exploded Pie chart, Pie of Pie, Bar of pie’ respectively.

‘3D Pie Chart’

It is a 3-dimensional representation of a graph, and there is an axis, which is used to present data, and the axis is considered as the X,Y,Z axis.

The example of Pie chart can be, a simple pie chart which is generally used to represent different types of calculations, and in this type, the value of the data can be represented as 100 and the calculations can also be taken place by (Total value)/100. The degree of the value is present by 360 degrees, and it can be said that different colors can also be used for different slices of the chart.

Conclusion

The above study focuses on the pie chart which is considered a form of graphical representation, and it is used to present data in a simple way. Here, the definitions of pie charts have been explained, as well as the types and examples of pie charts has also been highlighted in the present study. Besides, the uses and proportions of pie charts have also been explained here, and it can be said that pie charts are a method which can be understood by all.

Ans : Pie Chart is one of the important and common graphical representations which helps to show the dataset. As it is the easiest method and it is easy to understand, pie charts are used to represent data.

Ans : Pie chart is a common method to use for the representation of data, and it is in a circular shape and the data is presented in percentage. The other charts are not in circular shape as well as there are less applications of percentage can be noticed.
