  • Firstly, check the last two digits of the number.

Example 2. Check whether 4568 is divisible by 25.

Solution:

  • Check the last two digits of the number.

  • The number contains neither two zeroes (i.e., 00) nor multiple of 25.

  • Hence, 4568 is not divisible by 25.

Example 3. Check whether 7875 is divisible by 25.

Solution:

  • Firstly, check the last two digits of the number.

  • 7875 contains 75 as its last digits which is a multiple of 25. 

  • Hence, it is in agreement with the above divisibility test of 25.

  • Therefore, 7875 is divisible by 25.

Example 4. Check whether 54850 is divisible by 25.

Solution:

  • Find out the last two digits of the number.

  • 54850 has 50 as its last two digits which is a multiple of 25.

  • Hence, it agrees with the above-listed test for divisibility of 25.

  • Therefore, 54850 is divisible by 25.

Example 5. What number should be multiplied by 90 in order to make it divisible by 25?

  1. 2

  2. 15

  3. 7

Solution:

  • Multiply the number by natural numbers in order to make its last two digits 00 or multiple of 25. 

  • 90 X 2 = 180

90 X 15 = 1350

90 X 7 = 630

  • 90, when multiplied by 15, gives 1350. The last two digits of 1350 is 50 which is a multiple of 25. 

Hence, it is divisible by 25.
