Cuboid-Volume

The cuboid volume stands for the three-dimensional boundary of the cuboid, on the other hand, it can be also said that the total space occupied by the cuboid can stand for the volume of the cuboid.

Table of Content
  •

In the Geometric definition, the cuboid is a 3D shape with 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices and the faces of the cuboid looks like a rectangle. In that case, it can be said that there is a small difference between the cube and the cuboid shape. In the case of the cube, all of the 6 faces in the structure look like a square, while in the case of the cuboid, the faces of the structure look like a rectangle . There are some differences regarding the formula of volume in the two different shapes. In the case of a cube, the volume can be measured with the simple measurement of height or length or width and the 3x of any one dimension can be referred to as the volume of the cube. While, in the case of the cuboid, the volume needs the multiplication formula of Height, Width, and Length.

Central Discussion

Concept of Volume

In simple words of mathematics, Volume is the amount of quantity that shows the three-dimensional measurement of the space that is occupied by any object or any closed surface. In that case, it can be said that the volume can be sometimes termed as the capacity of the object or the content placed in a specific place. There are various units that can measure the volume of the objects and the units are m3, cm3, in3. There are various different formulas regarding the volume of the different surfaces and objects. Those volumes can be mentioned as below:

  • Cube: V=a3 [a= length of one edge]

  • Cuboid or Rectangular Cube: V= lwh [l= Length of the base, w=width of the base, h=height of base]

  • Pyramid: V= Ah/3 [A= area of base, h= height]

  • Cylinder: V=r2h [π=3.1416, r= radius of the base, h= height]

  • Cone: V= πr2h [π=3.1416, r= radius of the base, h= height]

Significance of Volume

The volume is the mathematical expression that can measure the capacity of the space that is required by that specific object. In that case, it can be said that there are various importance of the volume factors in the case of measuring the capacity or the surface area of the objects . In that case, it can be determined how the amount would be needed to fill the specific object. In that case, the amount of water or food or any other particles’ can be measured through the volume of the object. As an example, the amount of water that is needed to fill a fish tank can be measured by determining the volume of the fish tank. Thus, the application of volume factors is very important and significant in daily life. In that case, one thing is very important and notable is that, the ratio of surface area and volume of the object becomes smaller while the cell or the objects get larger . On the other hand, there is another notable thing that, when the objects get larger, the volume gets larger than the area of the surface. In that case, it can be said that when the surface gets larger the area gets larger in square base and the volume gets larger in cube base.

Volume of Cuboid

The cuboid is mostly known as the rectangular solid or rectangular cube in the surfaces. In that case, it can be said that there are units of the volume of the cuboid presented in the cube base, like cm3, in3, m3 . In that case, it can be said that there are various factors regarding the measurement of the volume of cuboids. In that case, the measure of volume in the case of the cuboid can be dependent on three major things. The major things are the Height, Weight, and Length of the surface. In that case, it can be said that the cuboid or the rectangular solid is the type of prism because of having the same cross-section of the prisms. However, there is a difference regarding the faces. The cuboid can stand on the ground for having the flat faces on this surface, while the prism cannot be standing on the ground. This is the basic difference that stands between the volume of cuboid and prism.

Difference between Volume and Area

The surface and the area are the nearest similar factors in Geometry. In that case, it can be said that both of the factors are important and significant factors for measuring the occupied space of any object. However, there is a difference regarding the occupied space of flat or three-dimensional objects . In the case of surface, the measurement occurs regarding the flat objects, while the measurement of volume is the factor of measuring the spaces of any three-dimensional object. Therefore, the measurement of the surface uses the unit of the square level while the volume uses the cube level.

Conclusion

As per all the above discussion, it can be said that volume is one of the major and important factors of geometry that has various applications in the real world. In that case, the discussion of the volume of the cube has been determined with various factors and differences between some similar things regarding the geometric objects. In that case, it can be said that the difference between surface and volume, cuboid and cube etc has been made clear in this assignment.
