Constants and Variables

Variable is that particular numerical value that changes over time according to the equation and Constant is exactly the opposite one, which means it does not change it’s value.

The constant value is that a specific data item that did not change during the equation has been done. It holds the values that remain unchanged at the end of the mathematical result. On the other hand, variables always hold those values that can be modified over the period. So it will be the exact opposite of the constant value. So, these two factors are contradictory to each other. In some cases, these contradictory factors look the same to each other. They became very difficult to recognise or difficult to differentiate from each other. This happens only in the case of some programming languages.

Discussion

The section of discussion was designed just to evaluate several aspects of these two types of mathematical values constants and variables. In this section, the types, formulas and mathematical applications were discussed briefly and wholly, at the same time.

Types of Constant and Variables

There are mainly two types of constant and they are Real Constant and Integer Constant. An integer constant is that constant which represents a whole value that can be octal, decimal or hexadecimal value. Real Constant is those constant values that can be the numerical values, fractional number and decimal point. This also includes both the positive and negative numerical values. A basic real constant is a constant that can be both positive and negative in value and is followed by an integer part. Some examples for this real constants are 0.00067; -0.75; 4657 and many more.

There are four types of variables in the mathematical field are Independent variables, dependent variables, categorical variables and continuous variables. Independent variables are those variables that have been used in the research to examine the impacts of implying the dependent variables. The dependent variables are getting used in a non-experimental situation which is a criterion variable. Categorical variables are also called qualitative variables and this does not include any numerical information and is infinite. Continuous Variables are those variables which have not any type of boundaries and are used in counting the measurements and quantity.

Several formulas of Constants and Variables

Someone, at first, need to declare the name of the constant and variables and after that, they need to assign it’s value, to assign some values to any constant and variable. This process of assigning value toward a constant or variable is possible and can be done in a single statement. In some cases, this can be different, it has a two-step process to be followed to assign the value to a variable or a constant.

As an example,

Suppose, a circle has been taken, whose area is to be evaluated. Here ‘r’ is taken as constant which implies the radius of the circle. Then the formula can be written as 

AREA = * r*r

is an irrational number, which can not be represented in the form of p/q. This is a universal constant that is used to determine the area of a circle.

In the cases of computer programming, the variable values have been used mainly and not the constants. As in programs, the values are a matter of constantly changeable numeric so here it is necessary to use the variable values.

Mathematical applications of Constant and Variables

In the field of mathematics, constants and variables are so important. It is completely impossible, in fact, next to impossible to imagine something related to the mathematical background. As in mathematics, someone always has to assume something that might be changed at the end of the result or can also remain unchanged after the equation. Without assuming values, no mathematical formula will be able to perform or progress. There is nothing in the field of math without constants and variables. After putting the formula the result possibly came out as a constant and it can also be the variable.

While using a computer some programs need to store some information or slime data. In this case, these programs need to apply the constant and numerical values. In order to use these constant or variable data, these programming languages need to understand those values of constants and variables. In order to store those data values, the programs, as well as the computers, also need to create a memorable data structure, in which place the system can store the data. It is important to name those storage places to store different types of data, to identify them easily.

This whole paper is mainly concerned with the Constant and Variables. In this paper, the main focus was on the different values and work processes of these values. This paper starts with a Meta description, in that section, the prompt description of these two types of values, constants and variables, was given and has been defined. In the next section, a brief introduction of constant values and variable values has been given from which it was easy for someone to understand these two facts.
