Ancient India-Gupta Period (319 AD – 540 AD)

In the 4th Century of AD the new dynasty of the “Gupta Period” arose in the Magadha and built a large region in the greater part of India. The “Gupta Period” is the most popular period of Indian history. According to the historical evidence, the founder of the dominant was the person named Gupta and used the title of Maharaja. The first person of the “Gupta Period” was Chandragupta who ruled over part of India. The second person of the “Gupta Period” who was the maharaja of the Northern part of India was Samudragupta. However, the last person of the “Gupta Period” was Skandagupta, after his death the empire of the Gupta declined. 

Description of “Gupta Period”

The “Gupta Period” was the ruler of India in the 4th century and its rulers established a huge area in that part of India. The “Gupta Period” ruled over India for more than 200 years and is referred to as the golden age of the Indian ancient. Through the epigraphic information, it is shown that the founder of the dynasty was the person of the “Gupta Period” named Gupta. The Rulers of the “Gupta Period” used the title Maharaja. 

The first person of the “Gupta Period”

The first person of the “Gupta Period” was Chandragupta who assumed the title of Maharajadhiraja which means the king of kings. He believes in the strength of the kingdom through the marital alliance with the power of the family. The wife of the first ruler of the “Gupta Period” is Lichchhavis who is the daughter of the rulers of Mithila. The marriage of the ruler of the “Gupta Period” brought to his resources, enormous power, and prestige. He takes the benefits of the situation and holds the whole of the fertile Gangetic Valley. He increases the region of the “Gupta Period” over Magadha, Saketa, and Prayaga.

The empire of the “Gupta Period” also known as the Classical age or Golden age of India exists from 320 – 550 AD. The empire of the “Gupta Period” covers the many landmasses that expand the dynasty of the Vanish caste. The caste process existed in the period and started the “Gupta Period” through Sri Gupta, who was the founder of the “Gupta Period”.

The empire of the “Gupta Period” achieved many things in the year of 319 – 50 AD such as being the fourth largest political entity of the world to have ever ruled India. The second thing of the “Gupta Period” is a method of decentralized administration that organized the hierarchy of the official exercises. Moreover, the “Gupta Period” is regarded as the Classic age of India and marked as the economic prosperity and the stable condition of the government. 

The greatest king of the “Gupta Period”

The greatest king of the “Gupta Period” was the Samudragupta because the empire Gupta reached to the large extent of the rule. The record of the epigraphic information shows that the region of king Samudragupta is preserved by the Allahabad pillar or Prayaga Prasasti. The Allahabad pillar shows that the empire Samudragupta was the great conqueror of the “Gupta Period”.

The discoveries of the “Gupta Period”

The empire of the “Gupta Period” discovered many sectors such as universities, literature, sculpture, mathematics, logic, metalwork, roads, painting. The kings of the “Gupta Period” were interested in the history buffs and breakthroughs of the excavation of the architecture. The empires of the “Gupta Period” developed the advancement of the sciences, dialectics, engineering, astronomy, philosophy, etc. The golden age of ancient India brought more skills including architects through the structure and temples.
