In Hyderabad, Telangana State, India, the Mrugavani National Park is one of the famous tourist spots. It is 20 kilometres from MGBS ( Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station) at Chilkur and is 3.6 square kilometres in size. More than 600 species of flora and fauna can be found there. 

In 1994, it was designated a National Park. The weather in this area is usually pleasant. The vegetation within the park is a kind of mix of both forest and grassland. Degraded tropical waterless deciduous forest covers the park’s vegetation. While the Mrugavani National Park is known for its diverse plant and animal life, it also houses more than 100 different species of birds.

Location

Mrugavani National Park is a lovely destination located in Chilkur in Moinabad Mandal and is about 25 kilometres away from Hyderabad. The park covers an area of approximately 3.60 sq.km. There are a wide variety of plant and animal species living in the park’s urban forest ecosystem, which is quite unusual. The presence of humans is closely monitored to ensure that the natural routines of animals are not disrupted.

Like most national parks, this national park has had minimal human interference and interaction to ensure that the rare species remain undisturbed in their comfortable natural home.

The park has a topography that is typical of the Deccan formation, with various rocky exposures. Species of all kinds can be found in this wildlife refuge. 

The weather in this area is often pleasant. There is a bird’s-eye viewpoint where visitors can see the beautiful landscape around, and there is also a watchtower where they can have a closer look at the animals.

A library, an environmental education centre, and a wildlife museum and auditorium are the other attractions of the park. Safari rides and guided nature walks are available for those who want to get up personal with the park’s inhabitants.

Flora

Dry deciduous woodlands characterise the majority of the vegetation. The park plays a significant role in protecting the almost extinct natural flora of Hyderabad.

In the Deccan trap, the rocky side of the formation can be seen in the undulating landscape. 

A variety of birds, including quails, peacocks, warblers, quails, partridges, flowerpeckers, ducks, curlews, lapwings, babblers, and koel, can be found here.

Mrugavani National Park is about 31 kilometres away from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad. You can travel from the airport to the park by car. The park is also reachable from Nampally and Hyderabad Deccan railway stations by car. Mrugavani National Park is easily accessible by road from major cities and destinations. There are a number of government and private vehicles that travel to Mrugavani National Park at regular intervals.
