Anemophobia is a mental problem in which the affected person fears strong air and winds. It is a type of fear that is developed due to traumatic experiences. It has a severe effect on mental health. Patients with anemophobia suffer from sudden panic attacks, depression and stress. Such panic attacks separate the anemophobia patients from the normal individual, due to which they remain isolated from the outside world. 

Nonetheless, common anemophobia symptoms can be identified easily in early stages. Moreover, medical science has discovered many treatments to cure this mental illness of the root cause.

Causes of Anemophobia

When the person gets affected by this phobia, the mechanism of hormones gets altered in their body. Due to this, they face lots of emotional problems, described as the emotional symptoms of anemophobia. These are:

  • Increase in the frequency of bad thoughts 
  • Facing difficulties in thinking, especially thinking about wind

Cognitive-behavioural Therapy

Cognitive-behavioural therapy mainly focuses on the treatment of the root cause of anemophobia. In this therapy, the perceptions and beliefs of the individual get changed. The therapist teaches them how to deal with unfavourable situations, like strong winds. This alters the thoughts of the affected person so that they start more positively about the unfavourable situation. 

Exposure Therapy

In exposure therapy, the affected person has to face the actual circumstances of fear. In this therapy, the person has to face the same stimuli that they fear. This therapy focuses on reducing the symptoms of anemophobia in the body. Therapists aim to control the hormone of the affected person, which causes anxiety and depression. 

Medication

Anti-anxiety medicines can help reduce the anxiety level of the affected person. These medications increase the level of serotonin and dopamine in the affected person’s body, making them feel more relaxed and calm.
