SSC CGL Application Process

Candidates applying for State Service Commission – Combined Graduate Level Examination (SSC-CGL)  need to submit their application online on the official website of SSC. 

The procedure of online application for examination has two elements:

  • One time registration 
  • Filling of online application for examination 

Part 1 – One Time Registration 

  1. It is essential for the candidate to read all the instructions carefully before filling out the form
  2. Before proceeding, candidate should keep the following information ready-
  • Mobile number [verification through OTP]
  • Email ID [Verification through OTP]
  • Aadhaar number [If Aadhaar number is not available, candidate can give the ID number of one of these documents: Voter ID Card, PAN, Passport, Driving License, School/college ID, or Employer ID (Govt./PSU/Private)]
  • Board, roll number and year of passing of Class 10 examination
  • Disability Certificate Number, in case applicant falls in that category

 3. For one-time registration click on ‘Register Now’ provided in the login section

 4. The registration process involves filling up the following details: 

  • Basic details
  • Additional and contact details
  • Declaration 

 5. For filing the form candidate must follow the steps given below:

       a. The candidate has to enter critical details such as name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, Aadhaar number etc. twice in the registration form to avoid any mistakes. In case of mismatch between original and verify data columns, the information will not be accepted and errors will be highlighted in red.

       b. S. No. 1 – Candidate should provide the number on the Aadhaar or any identity card information properly. 

       c. S. No. 2 – They should fill in their name exactly as given in the matriculation certificate. In case, there’s any change in the name after matriculation, they must indicate the same in section 2c and 2d.

       d. S. No. 3 – Candidate should fill in their father’s name as exactly given in the matriculation certificate.

       e. S. No. 4 – The candidate should fill in their mother’s name as exactly given in the matriculation certificate.

       f. S. No. 5 – The candidate should fill out the DOB as given in the matriculation certificate. 

       g. S. No. 6 – The matriculation certificate of candidate must include the following information:

  • Name of the education board 
  • Roll number 
  • Year of passing 

       h. S. No. 7 – Gender

       i. S. No. 8 – Highest level of educational qualification

       j. S. No. 9 – The Mobile number of the applicant should be working. It will be verified through One time password or an OTP. The commission will communicate through the mentioned mobile number only. The number will help in retrieving the password. 

       k. S. No. 10 – The email address of the candidate should be working. The email id verification will happen via One Time Password or an OTP. The Commission might contact the applicant via this email address to communicate important information. Email id will be used to retrieve password.

       l. Provide the details of UT/State of permanent address.

m. After the basic details are saved, the candidate will have to confirm their mobile number and email id. Upon confirmation, the data will be saved and a registration number will appear on the screen. The registration number and password will also be sent on the mobile number and email id of the candidate.

       n. Candidate must complete the registration process within 14 days. If the candidate fails to complete the registration process, their details saved so far will be deleted.

       o. Candidate has to log in through their registration number and password. They can change the password when prompted on the first login. 

       p. After the change of password, candidate needs to log in again using the registration number.

       q. After successful login, they can edit the ‘Basic Details’ and click on the ‘next’ button to save the changes and proceed with the One-time Registration. 

        r. S. No. 11 – Candidate has to provide details about category.

        s. S. No. 12 – Candidate has to provide details about their nationality.

        t. S. No. 13 – If candidate has any visible identification mark, then he/she has to show the mark at different stages of examination.

        u. S. No. 14 – If a candidate is suffering from any benchmark disability then he/she has to provide the Disability Certification Number. 

        v. S. No. 15 – 18 – The candidate has to provide their present and permanent address.

        w. The information needs to be saved by the applicant. Candidate can take a draft print out before finally submitting it.

        x. There is a declaration as well. Candidates must read the declaration properly before clicking ‘I Agree’.

        y. An OTP will come on the mobile number. The OTP needs to be entered for completing the registration process.

        z. If the application is not complete and submitted  within 14 days, the saved data will get deleted. 

Part II Online Application Form

  1. Applicants must keep the below-mentioned data ready before proceeding with filling up the online application form:

         a. Recently scanned photograph (not more than three months old from the publication of official notification of examination) in JPEG format (20 KB to 50 KB). The dimensions should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (Height). The photograph should be without spectacles, cap, and both ears should be visible. Applications with blurred photographs will be rejected. 

       b. The scanned signature should be in JPEG format (10 to 20 KB). The dimensions should be 4.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height). 

       c. The candidate’s details such as roll number, name of university, CGPA, etc needs to be submitted.

  2. Candidate should login via registration number and password.

  3. Under ‘Combined Graduate Level Examination 2021’, the candidate needs to check ‘Latest Notifications Tab’. There the candidate has to click Apply.

  4. Data gets automatically filled from the ‘One-time Registration’ data. But, if a candidate wants to modify the data then that can be done by clicking on ‘Modify Registration’ tab at the left hand top corner of the dashboard.

  5. S No. 15 – Candidates can mention their preferred place for examination center.

  6. S No. 16 – In case of candidates who are ex-servicemen or still serving Armed forces, they need to fill up the required information. Wards of ex-servicemen or Armed forces professionals do not fall in this category. 

  7. S No. 17.1 – Candidate has to mention in case they have Cerebral Palsy or not.

  8. S No. 17.2 – In case the candidate has any physical limitation and a scribe is required, they need to mention it.

  9. S No. 17.3 to 17.5 – In case, candidate is eligible for availing the facility for scribe then they have to provide information and requirements pertaining to Scribe. 

 10. S No. 18.1 – In case, candidate is applying for Junior Statistical Officer then he/she should select ‘Yes’ at S No. 18.2.

 11. S No. 19.1 – In case, candidate is applying for Statistical Investigator Grade II in the Registrar General of India then candidate should select Yes at S No.

19.2. 

 12. S No. 20 – In case, applicant wants age relaxation then he/she should select the appropriate category for age relaxation. 

 13. S No. 21 – Mention highest qualification of the applicant.

 14. S No. 22 – Candidate should provide details of qualifying educational qualifications.

 15. S No. 23 – Fill up the details as per the Notice of Examination.

 16. S No. 24, 25 and 26 – The present and permanent address of the candidate will be auto filled from one-time registration data.

 17. The candidate should upload their recent passport photograph.

 18. The signature should be uploaded as per the guidelines. Applications with blurred signatures will be rejected.

 19. S No. 27 – Photograph should be recent and not more than 3 months old. 

 20. Check the declaration properly and click on ‘I Agree’. Fill the captcha code.

 21. Click on the preview form and check the details. Candidates can accordingly modify before final submission. Once submitted, candidates cannot modify the data. 

 22. Candidates need to then make the fee payment.

 23. Payment can be made via online, net banking, BHIM UPI, debit card, credit card Rupay, etc.  or in cash by generating SBI challan.

 24. Once payment is successfully done, candidates can take the print out of their application form.
