India is a federal parliamentary republic with a bicameral legislature. Members of Parliament:

-Rajya Sabha

The Rajya Sabha or the Upper House is the upper house of the parliament of India. It has 245 members, of whom 12 are nominated by the president of India, and 233 are elected by the elected members of state legislative assemblies. The Rajya Sabha is a permanent body and its members cannot be expelled.

-Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha or the Lower House is the lower house of the parliament of India. It has a maximum strength of 550 members but presently cannot have more than 530 members. Of these, 530 are elected from single-member constituencies and 20 are appointed by the president. The Lok Sabha is a temporary body and its members can be expelled.
