Athirappilly Waterfalls

Athirappilly Waterfalls, the largest waterfall in Kerala, is also the highest waterfall here. This waterfall is 63km from Thrissur district and 70kms from Kochi. 

This waterfall standing 80 feet tall and 330ft wide, originates from the Chalakudy river. Athirappilly Waterfalls is also popularly called Indian Niagara Falls. You might have seen this waterfall featured in Indian movies like Raavanan and Bahubali. 

The waterfall gives a striking view of the Sholayar Hills, part of Western Ghats. 

Palaruvi Waterfalls

Palaruvi is situated in the Shenduruny Wildlife Sanctuary in the Kollam district and can be reached only after trekking inside the forest. In Malayalam, Palaruvi means stream milk. 

As the name suggests, this water gushing out from a height of 300ft looks pure white, depicting the milk flow. It is another popular picnic spot for South Indians. 

Chethalayam Waterfalls

This is another famous seasonal waterfall located in Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad. This waterfall dries in summer and rejuvenates during rainy seasons. 

Surrounded by dense forest, this waterfall is a favourite spot for adventure seekers and trekkers who love climbing up the rocks that leads to the Chethalayam falls.

Meenmutty Waterfalls

Meenmutty Waterfalls is in Wayanad in Northern Kerala. Being Kerala’s second-highest waterfall, it offers a soothing environment. 

This is another favourite spot for trekkers because it is located inside a forest and can be reached only by trekking over rocky terrain. You can also view the Banasura Sagar dam from this waterfall. 

 Vazhachal Waterfalls

Vazhachal Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Kerala, located in Thrissur District and is near Athirapally falls.  

The interesting fact about this waterfall is it is surrounded by waterfalls where many endemic and endangered species of flora and fauna dwell.  

Attukad Waterfalls   

Located between Pallivasal and Munnar in the Idukki district, Attukad Waterfalls is another best-loved waterfall in Kerala among trekkers. 

With the Attukad waterfall on one side, the dense forest surrounded all around, and the rolling hills on the other side, this place offers a visual treat.  

Dhoni Waterfalls

Dhoni Waterfalls is inside the Dhoni reserve forest 12km from Palakkad. You need to trek for 3 hours in Dhoni forest to reach the spot. Apart from the lush greenery and waterfalls, you will love the birds flying around here. 

One of the oldest Shiva temples, Vishwanatha Swamy shrine, is also located on the way to this forest.  

Cheeyappara Waterfalls

Another gorgeous waterfall situated near Valara waterfalls in Munnar is Cheeyappara Waterfalls. This waterfall is perfect for trekking and adventure seekers. If you are going to Munnar, you can quickly visit these waterfalls. The lush green dense forest and the Deviyar river waterfall chain will awe you.

Kombaikani Waterfalls

Kombaikani waterfalls are located just 2kms from Meenmutty falls and are near Kallar, which can be reached by trekking. The forest surrounding these falls accommodates various animals and birds. So other than trekking, this spot attracts tourists for bird watching and picnics.

Sentinel Rock Waterfalls

Here come another captivating waterfalls from the Wayanad district. Sentinel Rock Waterfalls are also popularly known as Soochipara waterfalls. The gushing water from the falls lands on the pointed spikes of granite present at the base. You need to trek for 2kms through the slippery rock path to reach the Sentinel falls. 

PowerHouse Waterfalls

This waterfall is located in Chinnakanal village is 18km from Munnar. To reach this waterfall, you have to trek to the Devikulam hills, where this waterfall is located. PowerHouse waterfalls are also believed to have healing power. 

 Valara Waterfalls

 Located near Cheeyappara Waterfalls, this one is also near Munnar, Kerala. It is an ideal place for trekkers and is surrounded by thick forest. This is also a seasonal waterfall where the waterfall flows thick during the rainy season and thin during summer.

 Lakkam Waterfalls

Among the famous waterfalls in Kerala, it stands out with its picture-perfect view. Situated near Munnar, this waterfall is found amid dense forest and hills. Though it is not the highest waterfall, we can call it one of the most beautiful waterfalls. 

Perunthenaruvi Waterfalls

Perunthenaruvi translates to Stream of Great Honey in Malayalam. It is in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. Amidst a thick forest, this waterfall region looks undisturbed except for the roar of water. This waterfall is not kid-friendly as most of the rocks are slippery.
