An Overview on Bipin Chandra Pal

Introduction

Bipin Chandra Pal is a great legend in Indian history and was known as the father of revolutionary thoughts. Reforms undertaken by Bipin Chandra Pal had laid a great impact on Indian history. He was a great nationalist, freedom fighter, social reformer, and writer. His writings had inspired many Indians and imparted a feeling of independence among various Indians. His role in the independence of India is incredible. Bipin Chandra Pal was a tierce of the triumvirate called Lal Bal pal. He was a great leader, freedom fighter, and one of the great architects of the Indian swadeshi movement. 

Bipin Chandra Pal 

Bipin Chandra Pal was born in the Poil village of Habibganj District, currently located in Bangladesh. His father’s name was Ramchandra Pal. On the 7th of November, 1858, he was born into a rich Hindu family. His father works as a Persian scholar and owns a small land where he lives with his family. Bipin Chandra Pal took his early education in the Church Mission Society College, a recognised College affiliated with the University of Calcutta. After this job, he served as a librarian in the public library.

Bipin Chandra Pal: as a social reformer 

While working as a librarian, Bipin Chandra Pal met with various social reformers like Shivnath Shastri, B K Goswami, and Surendra Nath Banerjee. The interaction with the social reformer aroused a feeling of Nationality in Bipin Chandra Pal, and he left his job and started working as a political leader. He follows the ideals of three social reformers. These are Aurobindo Ghosh, Lala Lajpat Rai, and Bal Gangadhar Tilak. In 1898, he again started his education in comparative theology. To learn comparative theology, he was admitted to one of the institutions in England. After completing his studies, when he came back to India, he started promoting the idea of swaraj among Indians.

Along with the Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Lala Lajpat Rai, he became one of the extremists who started boycotting the various British rules. The reforms undertaken by these three leaders played a major role in getting independence for India. Although, he was sent to jail by Britishers, claiming not to give proof against Aurobindo Ghosh during the Vande Mataram sedition case. Bipin Chandra Pal became part of the Indian congress political party in 1886. After this, he participated in various revolutionary movements like the non-cooperation and swadeshi movements. 

Works of Bipin Chandra Pal 

Bipin Chandra Pal participated in various movements that aimed for India’s independence. He appealed to the citizens to boycott British products and use Indian products. In 1887, a strong plea was made by Bipin Chandra Pal in the Madras session organised by the Indian national congress. The plea was related to the Arms Act, which is based on the discrimination made within the society. He belonged to the  Lal-Bal-Pal trio. The Bipin Chandra pal also spread the importance of education among the people. Bipin Chandra Pal undertook reforms that included spreading the importance of education, promoting the non-cooperation movement, and many more. Along with being a great social reformer, he was also a great writer and English orator. He also worked as a journalist and spread updates on national movements.

While working as a social reformer and freedom fighter, Bipin Chandra Pal also worked as a journalist to spread the Nationality news. He started writing for various newspapers and magazines like Bande Mataram, Paridarsak, Swaraj, and new India.
