Geography is a vast field with several interesting topics and today we will focus on the topic regarding continents and oceans. In total there are seven continents which include South America, Asia, Antarctica, North America, Europe, Africa and Australia. A lot of times, the term Eurasia may be used for referring to both Europe and Asia as a single continent. Now, coming to the oceans. There are a total of 5 oceans known to people, these include the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Ocean and lastly, the Southern Ocean. As we move forward, we shall study in detail the continents, oceans and their future.
Continents
Continents can be thought of as huge puzzle pieces which are shuffling. Oceans can be formed as the continents drift from one another. Out of the seven continents which are South America, Asia, Antarctica, North America, Europe, Africa and Australia, the largest continent is known as Asia all over the world. It may be noted that Asia can cover around thirty per cent of the total Earth’s land area. Further, even though it is agreed that Earth has a total of seven continents, Zealandia might also be called the eighth continent. This continent is the one that is suppressed under New Zealand. As per history, it can be said that the present continents can once more combine so as to together form a subcontinent.
Oceans
Out of the five oceans in the world, which are the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Ocean and lastly, the Southern Ocean, the ocean which is known to be the largest one is the Pacific Ocean. The location of the Pacific Ocean is to Asia’s East, America’s West, Oceania’s North-East. It is said that the Pacific Ocean is so huge that even if we combine both the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean still, the Pacific Ocean shall be bigger.

Continents can be described as stable platforms, shield areas as well as folded belts of the mountain. Some essential features of continents can be that they consist of a material with a granite configuration. The crust of the continent is thickest underneath the mountain ranges.
