Atmosphere Affect the Geosphere

Earth is made up of many components, including atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, and hydrosphere. Among these components, the atmosphere and the Geosphere work in coordination and affect the Earth’s overall stability.

The Earth comprises four components, i.e., the spheres. The two of the most important components of the Earth’s sphere are the atmosphere and geosphere. The atmosphere acts like a protective envelope made of gases that surrounds the Earth and protects it from the sun’s harmful UV rays, causes the proper distribution of heat and light from the sun, etc. On the other hand, Geosphere is the sub-layer of the earth that is present below the earth’s surface. It is composed of molten magma, lava, earthly plates, minerals, sands, etc. In coordination, the geosphere and atmosphere give rise to a number of natural phenomena, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, etc. Other components of the Earth include the hydrosphere and biosphere.

EARTH’S COMPONENTS:

Earth is a planet that supports life’s existence. It comprises several compositions, which make it the most favourable planet in the universe. However, this composition of the Earth is divided into four categories called spheres, which are the technical terms related to the components essential and necessary for making the Earth a favourable planet. The four spheres of the earth components are:

  • Atmosphere: Atmosphere is the topmost layer of the Earth, which consists of the air and a number of gases. It acts as an envelope all around the earth.
  • Biosphere: Biosphere is the surface of the earth where all of the living organisms, including animals, plants, microorganisms, bacteria, aquatic animals, etc., are present. This is the life-supporting surface of the earth.
  • Geosphere: Geosphere is the part of the earth’s crust. It consists of the rocky material and the molten magma, which are created within the earth’s subsurface due to the high pressure and temperature, causing the weathering.
  • Hydrosphere: Hydrosphere is termed the water body of the earth’s surface. 70% of the earth’s surface is said to be covered with water, and these water bodies support all of the aquatic organisms and other life forms.

SATELLITE IMAGE:

A number of satellites are sent up into space for inspecting and exploring the earth from outer space. The images that are sent by the satellites down to the earth are called satellite images. These images are quite useful for various purposes, which includes military, intelligence, metrology, cartography, etc. The satellite images not only included the normal pixel images but also the water-vapour images, visible light images, as well as infrared images. The satellite images are quite important in laying out the Earth map.

WHAT IS ATMOSPHERE?

The Earth is enclosed by a gas-filled envelope that is called the atmosphere. This atmosphere is formed by a huge mixture of gases as well as various tiny water droplets are involved in the composition of the atmosphere. The stability of the atmosphere is maintained by the gravitational pull of the earth. Further divided into several zones are also called layers. They are:

  1. Troposphere: the poster is the bottom layer of the atmosphere that encloses the human entities. Birds, aeroplanes, etc., are able to fly in this layer of the earth mask.
  2. Stratosphere: Stratosphere lies above the troposphere. It is basically 500 kilometres from the earth’s surface.
  3. Mesosphere: Mesosphere is approximately 85 Kilometres above the earth’s surface. This layer is situated just above the stratosphere, and it is thinner than that of the Troposphere.
  4. Thermosphere: thermosphere is the layer in which basically most of the satellites are made to revolve with stability.
  5. Exosphere: Exosphere is the outermost layer of the atmosphere.

WHAT IS THE GEOSPHERE?

The Geosphere is present below the earth’s surface. Mostly all of the hard rocks, molten magma, etc., are present in the geosphere. The crust of the Earth is said to be a composition of the geosphere. The geosphere is basically composed of solid hard rocks, ocean bottom mountains, a number of minerals, sands, viscous fluids, like magma and lava, etc. The geosphere had a basic role in causing volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and several other natural phenomena. The plate tectonics present inside the earth layer is termed as a part of the geosphere, which are very crucial components of the Earth sub-components. The plates cause earthquakes on the land as well as tsunamis in the oceans.

INTERACTION BETWEEN THE GEOSPHERE AND THE ATMOSPHERE:

The atmosphere, as well as the geosphere, works in coordination with each other. One of the basic natural phenomena called the rock cycle in the geosphere is not possible without the support of the atmosphere. The movement of the earth causes the breakdown of several rocks within the surface, as well as the high temperature and pressure, causing the weathering of these rocks and converting them into a number of minerals, magma, lava, etc. This gives birth to a various number of rare rocks, which includes sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks and igneous rocks. This weathering, transportation, erosion and deposition of these rock materials is not possible without the impact of the atmosphere. The heat energy from the sun is transferred to the geosphere as well as the atmosphere plays an important role in reflecting the heat evolved from this rock cycle back to the sun in outer space.

The Earth is made up of several components. However, the technical term given to these components is called spheres. Earth is made up of 4 spheres, namely geosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere. Each of these spheres plays an important role as well as works in coordination to maintain the stability of the life forms on the earth and makes it one of the favourable planets in the universe. Most importantly, the atmosphere and geosphere are very much essential according to the aspect of the earth’s stability, as they both are the basic root of a number of natural phenomena like tsunamis, earthquakes, weathering of rocks, volcanic eruptions, etc. Without the correlation between these spheres of the earth, there will be instability on the large scale.
